What is stopping them from putting Thundercracker, Blackout, Mudbuster Bulkhead and Wingblade Prime in different packaging?

In theory, could they do it?

I think they would release them in Generations, but yes, they could. However, they will be exclusives when a retailer decides to stock them.

I said HFTD because I thought Generations is only going to be Deluxes?

This is true, but HFTD is meant to be movie aesthetic, while Generations/Universe is supposed to be all-encompassing. Also, the G1 legends will be Generations.

It's splitting hairs, but one might argue that Grapple is quite obviously a Generations toy.

That said, i think putting Animated Voyagers in HFTD packaging is (somehow) a step too far in terms of 'aesthetics'.

It's debatable if retailers are interested in them... Deluxes are fairly clearly the meat and potatoes of the line. Can't see demand for Mudbuster Bulkhead being too high. Wingblade Prime and Blackout are being./have been released by Takara, and a Takara (Voyager) Thundercracker is just about inevitable.

Anybody reasonably motivated should be able to pick the three of them up with fairly little hassle.

I think Animated Voyagers would retain their Animated packaging since they're likely going to be store-exclusives anyway. Toys R Us clearly doesn't mind putting Animated cards up on shelves despite the line being in a comatose state.

Hasbro doesn't have to conform to Walmart or Target's notion of "No, we don't carry the Animated line anymore."

i think Hasbro could be at a point where they could put out TFA deluxes in Generations, and the voyagers in HftD. it seems kinda foolish to release at a trickle, figures in a Dead toyline's packaging (unless it's Encore...and G1 never dies, lol) when they can fold the line into the current and most excellent line. Besides, have we all forgot so easily that TFA figures were released within the Classics/TFU line once before and with no ill effect. and damn, boys and girls, if we can get an Omega Supreme fig, i don't care what the box looks like. (however unlikely, sigh.)

I think it ALL should have been Generations or "Transformers: No Subtitle", and incorporate the movie characters in with the Classics. Then leave it open as to where characters like Terradive, Hailstorm, and Tomahawk belong.

My guess is Hasbro makes promises to the major retailers in America. stating the specifics of a new TF toy line. like promising that both generations & HFTD will be new molds.

perhaps having repainted toys from animated put in the generations packaging. sort of breaks that promise of entirely new molds for generations & HFTD.

I'll put another check down for "They COULD, but it's highly unlikely."

It's possibly they might re-release them in HFTD but as everyone said Animated and Movie toys don't fit a certain aesthetic.

I'd love to see that and possibly as a TRU exclusives. TRU likes gets all the good excsluives.

    TRU:1 Target/Walmart:0

what i hope for is DLX Cliffjumper vs Slipstream set

and Ramjet vs Autotrooper set. Voyager deluxe sets later.

Except there are already a couple Generations repaints in release and coming down the pipeline, and the HFTD line is rife with repaints.

I doubt Animated toys will be released by Hasbro as anything other than exclusives; they have become the black sheep of their current toy lines.

I would support any move to have an officially released Fugitive Wasp, Warpath, Strika or the Constructicons from TFA.

I, also, would wholly doubt that this is going to happen in any way.

Aside from, maybe, the repaint of Wasp in Generations.

I'd expect to see then in generations before HFTD. They are going to be releasing that lockdown repaint, it would be weird if they had a ROTF version of an animated guy in the same line as other animated figures, you know?

If Hasbro is having trouble getting any retailer to take Animated toys as exclusives, then it really doesn't make sense to try to sell them to all retailers as an assortment along with other HFTD voyagers.

No it still is. Grapple, Windcharger, and the legends will be yellow boxed HFTD. Mark my words.

Animated isn't what's "HOT" right now but maybe TRU "Wasp vs Hydrodive Bumblebee", "Vortex Blurr vs Thundercracker", "Crystal Widow vs Bulkhead", and "Nightbird vs Wingblade Optimus". Two-packs seem to be exceptions where Hasbro can throw them back into an animated box.

EDIT: "Slag vs Goldfire Grimlock", "Goldfire Swoop vs Blackout"

Windcharger, specifically, was announced as "Generations Scout Class Windcharger."
