    Facts:

    - Hodson wrote two terribly rated, generic thriller films
    - Hodson is now doing an alien robot spinoff movie for a fatigued franchise with an uncertain future
    - TF live action movies have had constant writing room difficulties, including one film with no screenplay

    Opinion:
    - I don't like these movies

In IMDb, there's a trivia that said the writer of "Edge of Seventeen" rewrites some of the script. But we haven't got any official confirmation about that.

If you think of it as an M Night Shymalan situation then it may help.

Shymalan is still pretty infamous for the Last Airbender and After Earth which were meant to be his blockbuster hits. After he went back to his smaller-scaled roots with The Visit and Split he started to pick things up.

If this movie fails because of her then I'd be concerned with pretty much any genre Hodson might be dealing with in the future.

If there are certain moments/scenes/dialogue that happen in the movie that feel weird unless it was improvised.

Honestly don’t care. If the trailer is indicative of what she’s written then it seems fine to me.

Based on what? The director is a bigger part of the process than the writer.

I think Travis Knight as an animation director could accidentally fall into this territory with live action and mediocre script. He knows how to make beautiful scenery, nostalgic feels, but the story overall is low on impact

I’m in film school and trust me; a writer especially has to to what they have to to eat in this industry. Ehren Kruger came out of the gate with a lot of buzz for his Ring script and for a lot of people his work on DotM and AoE could be seen as a black mark

Movies get positive and negative views for all kinds of reasons- sometimes it's the writer, sometimes it's the director or actors, ect .Other times it could just be the movie is marketed at the wrong audience, or made at a time when the genre isn't popular.

It's also important to remember that experience does not determine how "good" writer is- the industry is pretty hard to break into (trust me, I'm trying to do his myself). You could have all the talent in the world, but the studio must not have an interest in producing what you wrote, or they might buy your script and just sit on it and never use it. Hodson has three scripts on the black list as well, so that's a good sign. You really just have to wait and see, worrying about it won't help at all.
