Arcee has been shown to be reckless when it comes to the whole "My partners are DEEAAAAAAD!!!" thing. She want her revenge and whatnot.

Depthcharge also had his revenge obsession with Rampage. If you watched Beast Wars, I'm sure you remember how that worked out for him.

At this point Arcee is showing very little character change when it comes to revenge. Maybe it's too soon to say but Arcee's character may remain static in that regard. If that is so, then I could certainly see her dying in a similar way to Depthcharge. Maybe in a fight with Airachnid or Starscream. Since Arcee is such a main character if her death was pulled off in such a way it would have to be very well written.

I could see this happening at the series finale. The writers seem to have balls enough to kill a main character. If Arcee's death was done correctly it would have a great impact given how much she will probably be developed.

That could happen, but I sorta see her going out like Dinobot.

I could see her quoting depth charge if she finally offs Airachnid. " Take it, Take it straight to the pit you sickening piece of SLAG!!"

It could work next season. Only if Starscream does it though. :D

This was in response to another thread, but it applies here as well. So I'll just copy and paste what I had posted prior:

The fact that Arcee's the best developed character is exactly why it's a horrible idea to kill her off. As it is, she's the main character in all but name, and you just don't kill the main character.

It's one thing to get a strong audience reaction from killing a fan favourite, it's another to kill off the point of view character, whom a significant portion of the central narrative and thematic development of the show seems to center on.

Finally, unlike nearly every other character on the show, a possible death for Arcee simply cannot be seen in a vacuum. Transformers has a very poor history with female characters, with Prime only beginning to unravel the years of this poor history. Killing arguably the best female character in Transformers history would severely damage much of the good will Prime has garnered in this respect.

This. Though, if they had her kill Arichnad and then die in the third season saving Jack or something like that, it could work. But, as of right now, I'd keep her around.

I think it's too early to call (and therefore too early to do right now). If she grows in wisdom and learns, as Optimus seemed to imply at the end of Partners, I could see her growing to fill his shoes as leader if he eventually dies or has to leave earth. If she becomes more obsessed with revenge, then I could see her death alongside her enemies being a suitable ending. This would be very much an end of series thing ("We've got three Episodes to do before the show ends, and we move onto a new show, quick, no restrictions, kill everything that looks like it could die!").

What throws me off in the Depthcharge comparison is the length of her history - she has at least two dead partners, killed by two different decepticons. What if Jack is hurt or killed by a con (something that will certainly have entered the writers minds as a means of character development and cast change)? Does she then have three to kill? Much harder to take out two or three cons in a suicide attack. It could be done, but it makes the story conditions that much more demanding.

I dont think that happens. First of all, she is one of the best characters in the series and second, DepthCharge didnt have a partner to rely on. Arcee has Jack. He IS Arcee's new partners, want her or not. The guy has shown to be a strong companion for her, even if he is human. So I say the friendship between those 2 will save her from her revenge obsession.

I think Arcee will eventually overcome her need for revenge. I don't see her dying like Depthcharge, she's not as extreme as he was. He was so consumed by revenge that the reasons behind it hardly mattered anymore, he had just become completely obsessed. Arcee has not yet reached that point, and I doubt she will because she has the other Autobots and Jack to keep her in check and support her.

Would be interesting to see her die and be revived during a Unicron plot like Depthcharge was. But don't really want to see it happen since it just happening for her to be revived later like him, Feels meh to me.

I don't think Arcee's as obsessed with revenge as Depthcharge.

I remember Metal Attraction where she and Bulkhead discontinued the battle to give Ratchet the polarity gauntlet. As much as she fumes about revenge, I think she can overcome it with time.

Wow, I don't think ANYONE can be as obsessed with revenge as Depth Charge...especially since Arcee's been humbled from her fight with Starscream.

Although I can see if DC does make an appearance I can see Arcee warning him that vengence doesn't fix anything and Jack, or Miko, introducing the pot to the kettle (old saying)

That would be fucking awesome. Depth Charge had an awesome death, and one like that would cap off Arcee's character perfectly. (but wait until the end of the the series, of course)

Frankly I'd like to see Arcee remain revenge-obsessed to her death. It's a concept rarely explored in TF shows, especially among Autobots. It would certainly be different than "I learnt mah lesson and revenge is bad, mmmkay" spew.

Hell, we never even SAW Rampage do wrong to Depth Charge and it was still a powerful out, imagine how much more powerful it could be if they tried it with Arcee?

Why does she have to die?

It's been a while since I've seen Beast Wars, but I don’t think Depth Charge and Arcee are the same. Depth Charge’s colony was wiped out—everyone he ever cared about was killed. I don’t think he planned on living a day beyond retribution, as he had nothing else to live for, which sort of explains his recklessness.

Arcee had partners, sure, but she also has a family, the Autobots. Upon obtaining retribution, should she indeed get it, I imagine she’ll return to them. Of late, Arcee has acted impulsively, but she’s been responsible (looking out for Jack’s safety and what not), I don’t see Arcee living her life as reckless as Depth Charge. She wants to live.

I think the only thing these two have in common is that an enemy took the people they cared for while they were helpless to do anything about it.

If Arcee must end her own life to get it, I don’t think she’s going to make that move—besides, I think Arcee is coming to an understanding about her past and her place in this world. Arcee is shaping up to become the guarding she was in the late 80s when she looked after Daniel, and he meant the world to her (so much so that she gave him her head).

Depth Charge saw the Maximals as friends as well, and on more than a few occasions abandoned his search for Rampage to help them, and by the end was a full time member of the team, even still hunting Rampage.

Also the reason I think Arcee should go out in a blaze of glory is because show's need to stop playing it so safe. People die in war. Hi-and-die "characters" like Cliffjumper and Skyquake don't count, as their only purpose was to die. No, I mean main characters with actual character. Arcee would be perfect because of her vengeful personality, and it would serve not only to be an epic capstone to her story, but could have a lasting effect.

I believe that she has learned her lesson. Because she said something like "what I've done, I've costed the war" something like that.

She doesn't have an obession she just needed to get her anger out and I'm hopeful that we will see a different arcee after this fight.

We'll see in the future episodes.
