First off that nasty green/ gray visage - the face paint is an awful color ( like lurch or a zombie from a 70's 80's cartoon ) with thin areas and plenty of overspray
    - second was the fact his eyes are so dark he looks like he's deactivated or dead - that lights off nobody's home look is not very exciting

But I found this solution on EBay at least for the eyes

Any chance you could direct me to where you found it. That looks way better. I just picked him up and haven't decided if Downbeat is still going to have a home.

My Coolsville is getting two (one for each head ) ASAP - a metallic upgrade paint op for the face seems like a possibility as well mentioned by the same seller

The difference between the repainted metallic silver and that ugly gray is night N day

Can you describe the "Metallic" solution you mentioned?

I need to paint the parts on his waist blue. I don't like painting my expensive things but, it's the one thing I think holding him back.

Cool idea (pardon the pun) but I don't dare transform this guy back to robot mode. Honestly one of the hardest, most frustrating transformations I've ever done. Took a long time and a lot of force to get everything to tab in and look smooth. I bought Coolsville to keep in car mode and the Maketoys version to keep in bot mode.

I am running the same setup - Downbeat in botmode and recently purchased a Coolsville to display in alt mode.

Seeing this thread reminded me I still had his package sitting in my car, just retrieved him and about to undertake the transformation to car mode. Wish me luck!

Man what an obnoxious transformation, especially the last step trying to get all the stuff to line up. Too many stupid tabs that don't line up well. This is the opposite of a fun transformation.

update: Still not together, wearing paint off the edge of the door above where it refuses to tab into the front fender.

update 2: The door tabs are the problem, especially the front right one. Bout to toss this thing in the trash, buy something like this instead where everything lines up properly and pretend it's Coolsville. :lol

I prep the surface by cleaning it with alcohol not perfect still leaves a lil residue - mask it and paint with high quality arosol Tamiya or Model Masters - clean any overspray with your finger or thinner - not acetone it messes with certain plastics - removing the part from the figure is ideal but can be a load of work - or hand paint with Vallejo water soluble acrylics

Got mine today. Dude sent me a freebie one. Had a few bubbles in it and it's lighter. I put that bad boy in there. Happy with It!

That's a nice shot - straight looks LED, but it ain't - that lighter blue tone should be an option shortly like a day or two - more of an ice blue

I had to get a flashlight for my crumby shot. My yellow cabinet LEDs aren't that great for light piping. I can still see it from my couch with the cabinet lights off, eight feet away. I dig it.
