What are some awesome non-TF related robot/mecha toys out there? I have 3 Soul of Chogokin Evas, which I love. I have been craving some Revoltechs lately as well. I need some new and refreshing to fiddle with that makes a good display piece.

A bat with giant axe-bladed wings! That is pretty sweet, though the other animals look sort of generic.

Last year's sentai mecha were a lot cooler, I'm definitely trying to get my hands on one (as soon as I can afford it...)

I'm still a big fan of the Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad figures, in particular Servo and Draco's combination, Phormo. Aside from looking very cool and having a lot of play features, combined they had more articulation than all Power Rangers mechs of their day combined.

Soul of Chogokin Ideon. Just make sure you have a table or something to display him on... few shelves can contain his massiveness.

GUess it's some psychological bias, but I generally have little interest in any robots/mecha that aren't Transformers (as in the actual brand). However, I've got a few Soul of Chogokin figs which are pretty kewl, like Tetsujin 28 (but I'll be callin' him Gigantor :)  )

One often overlooked line for mecha was Exo-Squad. These were some pretty nice toys and most of them are available pretty cheaply these days.

    For me:

    1. Bandai - Metal Composite Gundam (version KA) - finally a durable 7 inch Gundam that has diecast (which is in its imterior) - what can I say? :D

    2. SOC Ideon - 3 vehicles that have 2 alternate modes and combine to a big honking robot? Nuff said!

    3. SOC Dancougar - 4 triple changing robots that combine...what more can one ask? LOL!

    4. Bandai Gundam Mobile Suit in Action figures - well made, sturdy PVC quality, alot of cool extras!

    5. Gundam Master Grade kits - the quality of the last few kits are so good that the completed kits feel like toys themselves!
The above are some of the most amazing robot toys besides my TF toys. I would have choosen the 1/48 Yamato Valks but the price and durability of the toys don't "balance" i.e they're expensive and fragile.

Last time I was running around Akihabara I saw him going for 13500 yen... Though that was pretty randomly low. Usually it's more like 15500 yen. So - somewhere between $110 and $130 before shipping.

I paid 16800 yen, so those two prices are pretty swifty!

Military Version Aquarion is also in ready abundance - though that's at around 16800 as well. I saw a normal Aquarion for 10000, but none of my friends wanted it, and it's since then disappeared...

Ideon and Dancougar.... Read reviews on Dancougar before buying him. Not only is he the most expensive SOC, but there seem to be major stability issues. Ideon looks like and sturdy, but I've not read anything about him and he IS at the higher pricepoint. I prefer Gunbuster because the two ships LOOK like individual ships (as opposed to Ideon's "Look! This is square boxy thing is a tank!") and connect together solidly in robot mode. The site with pics of Gunbuster has pics of Ideon too:

    http://cms.or.tp/~gamu/goukin/gouki/ideon/ideon1.html

It has lots of the other SOC toys too:
    http://cms.or.tp/~gamu/gangubeya/gangubeya.html

Check them out. If you legitimately want me to grab you one, I'd be happy to share the love. PM me - hopefully the PM thing still sends me e-mails. Otherwise I may forget to check it :p

Machine Robo Mugenbine. It is basically Legos and combining robots. Very addictive series and if you get enough sets, can make some really wicked robots. There is a thread here in the toyark and links to some cool fan sites and their creations.
