For those of you, like myself, who are treating this as a prequel to the G1 cartoon (and by extension BW and BM). List them here, and try and explain them away if you can. I'm only on Chapter 3, and so far the only thing I've noticed is the whole Jetfire/Starscream thing. They were friends in the cartoon when Jet/Skyfire crashed on Earth, yet in the game Starscream betrays him at the beginning.
Stunticons and Aerialbots are running around millions of years before they are even created in the cartoon.
Like anything else, I consider this an offshoot. It shares ideas with G1, but really, it's its own thing. If people want it to be the lead in to their preferred iteration of G1, they could certainly do so.
in their EGMi interview, High Moon said they were making a G1 game. So it's absolutely safe to call this a G1 game. But, just like Dreamwave and IDW and Blackthorne and Marvel and Sunbow, there can be lots of different G1 continuities. This is a new one.
They also have said this game ends where the G1 cartoon begins. Hence the reason I made this thread. To see if we could come up with explanations for any continuity errors.
The presence of Barricade alone is enough to make this a movie tie-in game to me. Otherwise after only playing the game for a few hours I've spotted enough to confirm that this game doesn't exist in any incarnation of G1. Why people keep trying to think of it that way I'll never understand.
Just enjoy it for what it is. A really good game with a very well done story. Trying to shoehorn it in somewhere to validate it is just going to frustrate you.
G1 Barricade. WFC Barricade's bio is identical to G1 Barricade's bio. The color scheme however is closer to movie Barricade.
Exactly. There's more to G1 than just the 1984 cartoon. Agreed. Everything doesn't have to tie in to anything.
Exactly. I guess they could have spent thousands of hours watching the 98 episodes of G1 and the movie over and over and over to make sure they got everything just right but that would be stupid. I love G1 and even I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
i can not see it as a g1 prequel, i see it as the prequel of Transformers: Prime, which it has been hinted at least (i swear it was stated buy my memory is fuzzy)....i don't ever recall them saying this is a g1 prequel, i believe they ment it is based of g1, but it is its totally own thing
Originally the designers released a statement saying it was a prequel to prime, then when the first images of prime came out doubts arose. Months later when we got a slightly larger view of Bumblebee from Prime along with some background info on the series they are now saying that the game and the new show will not be linked.
lol, good sir may i use that as my Signature. any way after playing through the whole game....i can safely say that it takes parts of many G1 esque continuities, i'm not sure what parts of which but it draws mainly from a blend of 84 cartoon and half IDW/Dreamwave. but even then it has a few continuity boo-boos in it, but its transformers continuity screw ups are part of our fandom,
