G1 toon Grimlock had a huge disadvantage in the "intelligence" department and his problems were far more then a speech impediment.

All the toon Dinobots had limited intelligence.

Toon Grimlock might have been the smartest of the Dinobots on but thats still only made him the smartest "ROCK" in a group of rocks.

It may not be as reliable as brute force but there are a number of examples in history in which intelligence and strategy have helped to secure a victory or two.

But I dont want to change the flow of this debate by siting them.

I didnt say it would be an eazy battle.

And I'm an Eyewitness to how intelligence helped someone over a bear attack.

But it wasnt a grizzly.

Dinobots, Destroy Devestator! Or tried, and actually managed to knock him down. Also they attacked Unicron without the use of a ship. They are brave to say the least.

I think in a confrontation, Iron Hide would pobably try to lasso Grimlock, and calm him down. Grimlock would then knock him over and chuckle.

 

Grimlock works on dinobot instict, in a fight he acts like a T-Rex, runs in and tears everything up and ask questions later. I like Ironhide but he has no chance in 1vs 1 with Grimmy.

Oh, I agree that keeping your head in an instance of a bear/shark/pitbull attack can make the difference between survival and... well... messy death.

However I was using the grizzly bear as a colourful analogy to show how "being smarter" actually extremely rarely confers a palpable advantage in a one-on-one combat scenario in which the "smart" person is physically outclassed. The smartest thing that even a really tough human could do in a bear attack instance is escape by any means necessary... which to me sums up the way an Ironhide/Grimlock match up would go.  

I mean, once a bear decides to attack me, even if I keep my head (both literally and figuratively), I'm pretty much a goner. There's no way to "outsmart" it's teeth from around my neck before it tears me apart... much less turn it around so I "defeat" the bear. It's just not going to happen.  

But I see what you were getting at.
