hey thats G1 for ya. Its possible to mix and match them together but this is only a parsonal view

IMO they always existed as a team of engineers then with the robosmasher they became evil decipticons then after that Megatron gave them the ability to combine thus making them the constructicons... So while Megs played a big role and made the constructicons what they are today he did not make each one from scratch.

That is the way things go when you have several different people writing a children's toy commercial.

I like to think that Megatron is just "rebuilding" the Constructicons in season 1.

Alright that makes sense.... I guess....
It just got me confused a bit.
But its clear to me now that Megatron just rebuild them.
It just felt like in Heavy Metal War, he was just built and not rebuilt.

Have you ever read the fanfic "A Thing of the Past" by Zobovor? It attempts to clear up the confusion about the Constructicons' cartoon origins. I last read it years ago and recall really digging it.

Hmmm, reminds me of Batman and the Joker from the first Batman movie.

"You idiot! You MADE ME!" The Joker
    "You made me first." Batman

The Constructicons built Megatron, then when they realized he was a bad egg, they left.

Later he caught up with them and reprogrammed them.

On Earth, it all works out if you relplace "built" with "rebuilt".

That's how I tried to reason it...

The obvious answer is that they just made a mistake. Or two. Or more.

But ooooooh man, I had a running debate with Sto Vo Kor on the semantics of this of epic proportions. For me, "built" in this context clearly implies "created"... but it's really just that choice of words that makes everything else in the Constructicon origin seem wrong.

Though based on the contradictions between War Dawn and the revelations of Season 3, there's still plenty of inconsistency to go around. :)

Yeah, if you're trying to make sense of it, this is definitely the most acceptable explanation... although the dialogue uses the word "built", which strongly implies that they were fresh builds, "rebuilt" makes infinitely more sense. Add to that the fact that in "Secret of Omega Supreme", Omega says he chased the Constructicons all the way to Earth, and it's quite possible that the Constructicons arrived on Earth in rough shape, joined up with Megtron's crew, god themselves fixed up, and then Omega caught up to them sometime between Season 1 and Season 2.

I don't try and explain it. I just accept that megatron built the constructicons, and that the constructicons built megatron.

it's just more fun that way.

This might stir up an old argument but think of it this way.

They never "clearly" said Megatron built then from scratch.

That's how I've always tried to reason it too. Trying to fit it together any other way makes my head hurt.

The only reason it seems" clearly implied" is because the characters in question were new to us.

From within the story, no clear use of the word can be determined.

Before being robo-smashed the Constructicons (Constructibots?) can't have had it easy:
Yeah we built Megatron, so we sort of are responsible for this state of constant war, sorry about that guys :/

where are you guys getting the idea that the Constructicons built Megatron? I know season 3 had the clip of Megatron and green transformers but is that why everyone assumes Megs was built by them?

Season 3 is full of crazy stuff and should not be taken seriously lol.

Theres a scene in which we see Megatron on a table , surrounded by 8 Green robots.....none of which exactly match the appearance of the Constructicons, while the Narrator states "MEGATRON WAS BORN"

Yeah, I think that clip was in the 5 faces of darkness. Personally, green robots colored like the Constructicons should not be taken seriously. That mini series had more than its fair share of animation errors.

Remember, Headstrong was with the Decepticons even before his group was introduced.

Considering this was AKOM, Megatron should have been built by two copies of Hook, mini-Devastator, Ratchet, Scourge in Starscream colors, Arcee, and Galvatron. :)

I subscribe to the "they actually meant 'rebuilt' in season 1" interpretation, as in they happened to have their personality components/sparks/what have you on hand, and produced bodies for them, either rebuliding/repairing, or making new bodies from scratch.
