As if Big Blue didn't already have enough homoerotic overtones. :)

In all seriousness, though, this could be the remedy the Superman franchise needs, depending on which Zack we get. If we get the good Zack Snyder, then this might rival the Nolanverse Batman. If we get "Watchmen" Zack Snyder... well, I'll wait for DVD.

That's not gonna be pretty when Superman kicks someone into a pit.

I know I'm going to be in the nerd minority, but I don't see this as good news.

Chris Nolan is Producing, so he'll probably keep Snyder in line.

I'll reserve judgement until I see a publicity shot of the suit. If its as lame as the "supergay return" movie, then I'm gonna boycott it.

I dunno, I enjoyed Watchmen and 300, although both are different material to The Man of Steel.

Are they going for a full on reboot here or have they got a comic story in mind for an adaptation?

Either way, I'm really looking forward to seeing this symbol on the big screen:

Not sure if he's the right man for the job, but maybe with Nolan being so heavily hands on...

I believe they're rebooting the franchise here. Probably not an origin story, though.

As far as Snyder is concerned, I think he'll bring something new and different to Superman that we haven't seen before on the big screen. Whether that'll be better or worse is another story.

Aside from Christopher Reeve's original 'Superman' in 1978 I agree, there have been some poor efforts to make Superman movies.

I'm probably in the real minority here, but my concern is less Snyder and more Nolan. Nolan was a fantastic choice to reboot Batman, because he fit the property. However, I don't know that it'll translate to Superman. I keep hearing that DC wants a "grittier" Superman, and that's never what the character was about. I'll hold judgment until I see more about the movie, but I think Snyder's visuals will do a great job with the movie. It's the story it'll tell that I'm not crazy about.

Also, I'm kinda eh about Zod being the villain. Are we ever going to see Brainiac on the big screen, at this point?

I see this as a good move. With David Goyer doing the script, I think we'll be alright. Plus Nolan knows how to squeeze the most out of his productions as does Snyder. With Goyer's writing style, Nolan's guidance and Snyder's aesthetics, I think this is the last, best shot for a fun Superman film.

Don't get me wrong, I would have been truly intrigued if Darren Arnofsky, Duncan Jones or Matt Reeves had gotten the gig. But Snyder has proved he can competently handle an action filled story.

Maybe if the reboot is succesful enough, we'll see either Brainiac or Darkseid in a sequel.

Early days but I can see this working out well. Are they still going with the two-part comprehensive origin story that was mooted a while back?

    What a good superman movie?

You can make him darker, but people will say "they're just copying The Dark Knight"...can't make him too light, then fan boys will say its too pretty...thinking as for class A superheroes, its hard to please fans...just like the Hulk I thought it was really good, but people still cry about it....pretty soon hollywood is gonna abandon the superheroes movies....

I believe both Nolan and Goyer said this will not be an origin story. Superman really doesn't need an origin retelling anymore.
