Well considering "Porcupine Pie" is the worst song in the history of all music (seriously, it is*), anyone buying Neil Diamond tickets nowadays probably deserves to get screwed over some then.

I read the whole thing and not one mention of Lars Ulrich or Gene Simmons.

    Shenanigans.

I don't like it...but it's just supply and demand. I guess you could argue it's a monopoly of that specific artist, but that's a little flimsy.

There's always DVDs of concert performances, and at the rate we're going, they'll be HD holograms with sound beamed into your skull by 2020.

Well, I hope 100's of Neil Diamonds show up to his own show, because no one else can stand that shit.

Eh, I disagree about it being "just" supply and demand. It is, at its base, lying to their fans. Scalping is a common occurence; heck, I am scalping Kenny Chesney tickets right now to cover the two for me and Shea. But when it's the artist themselves scalping tickets before they go on sale, it's like a big Screw You to their fans.

    Is that a promise?

Ticketmaster remains a monopoly and until they're put down, this is the sort of shit we'll have to put up with.

    Neil Diamond= Dick.

He once came to one of my associate's theatre, and proceeded to be a dick about everything, and wanting free stuff, a private show, etc. I'm thinking, "that guy can more than afford a movie ticket and some popcorn, what's he wanting to get comped for." He's just mad because he will never be as awesome as he once was.

This only works because people are actually buying the tickets at those prices. Affordable concert tickets are not a basic human right. If you don't want to spend $400 to see Neil Diamond, then don't. When the scalpers can't sell the tickets at those prices, the prices will come down until it meets demand regardless of whether of not you're buying them from Neil Diamond or Neil Smith.

If I took out an additional mortgage and sold off my possessions and worked three jobs, and gave up most utilities and food, I could (maybe) be driving a Ferrari. The reason I don't isn't because I don't really like them. It's because it's not worth it for me at the price. I'm not seeing Neil Diamond at $400 or even $40 for the same reason. Drop the last zero and it'll be worth it for me to spend $15 for parking and $8 for warm, beer-flavored water. The fact that Neil Diamond is still selling tickets and Ferrari is still selling cars indicates that for somepeople, it's worth it.

    Boom! Roasted.

Anywho, I don't really care about ND, but they said there were a lot of artists doing the same thing. And yeah, you are right, as long as people pay that. But I bet it would be a different story for *most* people if they realized he was the one scalping tickets.

Sure, a pineal gland resonator will be available as an optional accessory.
Yeah, it's weak. Just not illegal to me. But hell, I stopped going to RATM concerts on account of their ticket pricing policies.

Hell, it's like FP claiming X number of sets have sold out... :D

Ask Pearl Jam how that worked out. Hell, they even ended up going back to working with 'em...

I know. I kinda love Neil Diamond...why's he getting all that hate?

There needs to be a united front with some of the big guns. (IE: U2, Rolling Stones, etc.) That might put a dent in things. Still it was an admirable effort.
