They've had two shots at making it look right in live action, and they failed. Let's give CGI a chance.

Yes but it's still in the hands of Fox and with the exception of X-men and X-men 2 most of their superhero movies barely pass as watchable. FF 1 was decent but not great and 2 was a joke. And all indications of first class based on casting fill me with little hope. So as long as fox has it I don't expect much.

Good Lord, why would someone even mention that F4 movie. I don't think it should even be associated with the franchise, but the newer 2 weren't fantastic by any stretch.

Two puns in one sentence. Someone stop me.

But all that aside, I really hope Fox wil finally get this movie right. I love the F4 series, and would really like to see a movie that does it justice.

Meh, the makeup fx Thing worked for me. Did the job. It was hardly an effect that ruined the movie. And it was probably one of the better aspects of the Corman movie. (certainly beat how they handled the stretch effects).

I liked FF1 and 2, though 2 could have been a lot better. BUT they both completely failed when it came to Dr. Doom. They just butchered him for the movies. Not having any accent whatsoever, even though he's from Latveria, a fictional country in Europe? Getting exposed to the cosmic radiation as well and getting that electric power? Metal skin instead of the armor? All wrong, wrong, wrong.

My problem with the movies was the way Reed was portrayed as a wimp. Sure, he's a total science geek but he was never a wuss, which is what I liked about him. Drove me nuts.

But for me Chiklis was totally the Thing. Would be great if they got him to voice the new iteration of the character at least.

Actually, I don't mind the changes they made when it comes to his 'armor'. That was a clever spin, though it wasn't done as effectively as in the early Ultimate Fantastic Four arcs (before that Doom was made into a carbon copy of the 616 version). But where movie-Doom completely and utterly failed was the casting and his characterization. That is what they got horribly wrong.

I liked the two FF movies, but I have to admit they never rose to grandeur. A lot of things were very hit and miss, like the special effects, which were sometimes awesome, like the truly spectacular Silver Surfer, or sometimes astoundingly poor, like Reed's arm-stretching in the second movie which had his shirt sleeves stretch along with him (during the bachelor party). Overall, they got a lot of things right, but a lot wrong as well, which averages out the movies to "just okay" in my opinion. If they fixed the problems, it would really be fantastic (excuse the pun).

I hope to see good production values put into this new reboot, and that it will turn out really awesome. The CGI Thing sounds like a good idea. The FF were always among my favorite superheroes ever.

Yes indeed. I loved Chiklis as Ben and would definitely love to see him come back.

I just hope they do a good job on this next one.

Agreed. There's really no one else that I can think of whose voice is "New York" without coming off like a caricature. Dennis Franz, maybe, but Chiklis just sounds better.

All Chiklis' costume needed was a more prominent brow, he was a good thing. In fact I have no complaints about any of the cast in the F4 movies, just the crummy stories they were a part of :(

THe movie Doom was based more on Ultimate Dr. Doom. As he existed then.
