In my opinion, i think ROTF has some inspirations from the 86 movie, ill show you what i mean

Megatron rebuilt into a tank - Galvatron reference

The Decepticons have new allies - Unicron reformatting

    Devastater - Unicron

Prime getting beaten severly - Prime vs Megatron

I do know there is plenty more, but i cant think of anymore at this moment, what do you think of this and what other inspirations can you think of?

A lot of that seems like..just grasping for straws. I wouldn't even consider any of those real parallels, minus the last but even then its a stretch.

In both movies, Megatron is revived.
Both movies also use the magic like matrix for the Autobots to win.

The Fallen is similar to the role of Unicron in the earlier movie and both are beaten by the matrix.

Both movies does have Prime beaten up badly. In the earlier movie, Prime was not revived bec. of the desire to sell new toys but Prime was indeed later on revived due to public demand.

Well with Devastater, he is like the "special" mystery character like how unicron was in the 86 movie.

now i remember, they both have a large diet, lol!

Both movies have Autobots, Decepticons, and Witwickys. That's about where it stops.

ROTF doesn't have moonbase's, Quentessons/Sharkticons, Junkions, giant planet-eating robots, or underwater badass robosquids.

sigh, im talking about knowing about him, in the early trailers we only got to see glimpses of what he looks like, and im just saying that it reminds me of unicron from 86 and besides, there are people who are tf fans but are not able to know about devastater other than hes a new mystery character

true, but everything in ROTF isnt inspired from everything from the 86 movie, there may be an occasinonal reference here or there, but not an entire movie plot and yady yadda

in both movies prime is voiced by cullen and soundwave is voiced by welker. also primus isnt in either. constructicons turn into devs. prime turns into a truck. i could go on forever.

He wasn't only glimpsed at in the early trailers.

The first trailer to have anything to do with the constructicons showed him in full.

RotF had some random parallels to Empire Strikes Back (of all things), but those feel like a stretch to me. Nothing reminded me of the '86 film (maybe if Hot Rod were in RotF and caused Prime to die again....maybe).

    Empire stuff:
The bad guys come back in full force/hunt down one of the heroes.
The bad guys have a big, destructive new toy to play with (Executioner Superstar Destroyer/Devastator).
The Bigger Bad (Emperor/Fallen) behind the Big Bad (Vader/Megatron) is revealed.
Luke got his hand chopped off by Vader/Sam's hand is injured somehow during the film.

Hmm...that's all I got. And again, that feels like a bit of a stretch.

Just have a look at the way how Megatron tackles Prime in the forest in the latest tv spot: that is exactly what Megatron did to prime in the final decisive battle at Autobot city in 86 movie before he kills Prime

The 86 movie made the mistake of taking the adventures out into space and after a while, I am sure the children were wondering why the Transformers need to look like earth vehicles if they never go to earth anymore.

The 86 movie made the mistake of killing Optimus. They did not know at that time that Optimus had become iconic. They learned their lesson and did not kill the GI Joe Duke anymore. They would've written out the death of Optimus had they known about the fan reaction and they did bring back Optimus at the end of G1 season 3. TF2 also had to revive Optimus bec. Optimus is an iconic character.

The current movies give too large a role to humans. Sam is always holding the magical objects like the AllSpark or the Matrix that will win the battle. The military is also able to kill Decepticons so you don't really need the Autobots at all. The american military has super bombs, nuclear weapons and anti-matter bombs so the Decepticons are actually no match for the military.

TF2 and the 86 movie also have similarities bec. in TF2, they initially thought about reviving Megatron as Galvatron also. The current writers are Galvatron and Unicron fans it seems.

I'd argue that Megatron coming back from the dead and being rebuilt as a tank (and still called Megatron) is a Generation 2 reference, not a Galvatron reference.
The whole dealy with Sam having the Allspark/Matrix/whatever giving him visions and shit fits with what happened VERY early in the Marvel run (when Prime actually downloads the Matrix into Buster Witwicky to keep it from Shockwave); this happened well before the movie.
Devastator being used as the gigantic badguy also predates the '86 movie.
