He better be careful, all the zealots will demand he repeal that statement since the movie is, somehow, "not G1".

I don't know what I think of that. I mean it's good that he's answering questions and stuff.

I find it funny that he came up with the protoform concept on his own without watching BW. I guess when something makes sense it just makes sense and pre-formatted forms does make sense :D

And hopefully those answers will put some people at ease regarding the movie. It's always good when the people behin the work answer questions :)

Wow, only 4 posts in and already the name calling has started :(

I feel like a little kid waiting for a movie or a toy that I want! July doesn't feel like it is months away but years! I can't wait to see it, the only downer is I know Megatron and the Decepticons have to lose and that makes me mad...how come the bad guys can't win for once! YEESH!!! (July must get here...no matter the cost!)

    Context, please.

He admits that what he wrote was a very early draft. If you've ever had the "pleasure" of reading scripts in their various stages, what you start with and end with are often dramatically different. Even when basic plot synopses are the same, characterization, tone and dialogue can make the final film feel entirely different. So while what he wrote was pleasing (none moreso than his general lack of contribution to Catwoman), you can not in any way use this to form an honest opinion about the final film.

True. But the only way to really do that is to watch the final film. In July. This is just another little tidbit that can be added to the equasion.

I was so hyped about the trailer I finally gave in and decided to read the leaked "Prime Directive" script, I can't say I was blown away reading it, it kinda reminds me of SkyCaptain or War of the Worlds, very much a "popcorn movie". I was a bit disappointed at all the intentional product placement in the script and obvious plot holes--hopefully they were fixed before filming started. But, when I go back and watch the teaser again, I get goosebumps because the script doesn't seem like much at first but when you add the visuals, it's something completely different and amazing.

Anyone else that has read the script had that impression?

yes, totally.. the first draft for star wars: ANH was basically battlestar galactica, the second draft was basically phantom menace, the final film had bits of both and was nothing like either

i was just about to mention star wars as an answer for the question "cant the bad guys win just once?"

    3 words: EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.

and all i got out of the whole blog page was a lot of bay-bashing.
there was SOME intelligent conversation, but it was like trying to hear your favorite song through a static channel on a radio.

No kidding. In his draft, Scorponok got killed by LURING HIM INTO A FREAKING SHED AND TOSSING A GRENADE INTO IT. Worse, Scorponok melted after that because it's nanobot-structure collapsed. Yeah, he wrote them as being loaded with nanobots. Another example: Soundwave was a Frenzy-esque character at first, but after escaping the CIA building (not in the february draft) he walks up to a Hummer, changes into a freaking NANOBOT ORB, and then grows into the Hummer he just scanned...
And people thought the nanobot-level that we have now was bad.

I have to admit though, the flashback scene in his script was way more badass: Seekers descending upon Cybertron like locusts with Megatron blasting several Autobots into oblivion with his armcannons.

Does anyone have a copy of the John Rogers draft? You know, the one that I think was only 2/3 complete - it leaked at some point before the infamous Feb leak. If you do, please link or PM me! :)

Hmm, the John Rogers script is... interesting. Lots of similiar bits but a fair amount has changed. Glad they went with Ironhide over Arcee. Although suprisingly it seems that the Rogers script gives more personality and screen time to the bots than the Feb draft does. It gave Jazz some nice attitude too. Also it didn't have the lame dog fart joke and cut down on the "Autobots are hiding outside of Sam's house" scene.
