The comic powerhouse, Harvey Korman passed away Thursday from complications of a rupture of an abdominial aortic aneurysm at UCLA Medical Center. He was 81. He was best known from the Carol Burnett Show where he won four Emmys and starred in the Mel Brooks movie "Blazing Saddlies" and also works in Broadway. Now please try not to blame me for now being correct, but still I tried. And I like to say that I'll miss him very much because his comedy was wholesome and good natured. God bless you Harvey Korman for making people laugh.
Was also in the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special. I loved his interaction with Tim Conway. He was a great comedic performer and will be missed.
On Carol Burnett, he was a genius. but i loved him in Blazing saddles- my favorite being the monologue to Slim Pickens telling him to round up all the bad guys he could find.... and ending it with Methodists, was brilliant. (Dad is a methodist, and he thought it was a riot.) peace and godspeed Harvey.
Him and Tim Conway helped make the Carol Burnett Show absolutely legendary to me. He lived a long one, and I certainly hope it was as happy as it looked. The following was shared by a good friend of mine at The Cape Radio:
Taggart: What do you want me to do, sir? Hedley Lamarr: I want you to round up every vicious criminal and gunslinger in the west. Take this down. [Taggart looks for a pen and paper while Hedley talks] Hedley Lamarr: I want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shit-kickers and Methodists. Taggart: [finding pen and paper] Could you repeat that, sir?
thank you for posting that. that made my day. still sad, but that never fails to make me laugh. gonna miss Harvey a lot.
