What comic book writers would you like to see working on TRANSFORMERS? (I use the term “writers” a little loosely, it refers to those people who draw/write/both in comics).

Stan Lee (like he has anything else to do now?)

Walt Simonson (exemplary work on THOR)

Todd McFarlane (the creator of Venom and Spawn)

    Mike Mignola (the HELLBOY writer)

Neil Gaiman (fantasy writer for Vertigo)

J Michael Straczynski (BABYLON 5, SPIDER-MAN and THOR writer)

Jim Lee (fantastic comic book artist in general)

    Anyone else?

I'd like to see what Alan Moore can do with RID, given how he handled the WildCATS series in a similar fashion - the heroes returning home to a world where they find out the war they've fought for centuries is actually over.

Garth Ennis or Warren Ellis would be my choices, just to see what sort of bizarre stories they'd come up. As for artists, I'd love to see George Perez on the TFs...or Rob Liefeld, just for the lols.

Nobody. Transformers comics have finally got unfucked after four years of soft reboots, continuity hell and writers who didn't give a toss about the material they were given.

I don't even wanna entertain speculation. This is the best thing we got going for fiction. I want it left alone.

^ Could just be an out-of-continuity one-off thing, like when they got Chuck Dixon to do Hearts of Steel, not necessarily "kick Roberts/Roche and Barber/Griffith off the ongoings so Geoff Johns/Jack Kirby's corpse and Mark Millar/Greg Land can take over". That's how I was looking at it, at least.

I know he drew a few covers for the Marvel run, but I would've enjoyed seeing Jim Lee draw entire issues.

Kieron Gillen just by the fact that James Roberts gushes about him.

    Maybe Mark Waid.

I have absolutely no interest in seeing them try to deconstruct tfs and turn Optimus Prime into a genocidal war criminal.

While he's not exactly a comic guy, J.J. Abrams did co-write the Star Trek prequel comic, which I really liked and consider an integral part of the movie. So yeah, JJ. Or if we can go back in time, Chris Claremont. Ennis, Ellis, Gaiman and Kirkman all seconded.

and we know how well those go over

[hearts of steel, tf/avengers, heart of darkness, etc etc]

id like things left as they are plz :p

the trouble with [insert "big name" comics guy] is they have no attachment to the series and thus no know-how of how best to handle the property.

not that itd be like that with EVERY creator, and not that im against new blood, but the track record has been far from stellar

Exactly. In all seriousness, we should have fans of the series doing the work. Look how well MTMTE has turned out! Get scouring the fanfic forums IDW!
