When I fold the leg up to transform it the seam in the middle of the top half of the leg opens up.
this is my first time getting this figure and I was just wondering if it was a problem or not
and sorry if this has been answered before.

that seems to help a little but I was wondering if it could damage the plastic in any way or if it was normal

It's definately not normal. I've owned half a dozen Soundwaves from vintage originals through to Takara Soundblaster reissues and never encountered that. I've also never seen or heard anyone mention that in the TF Feedback forum, either.
I would recommend either trying to tighten the screws, or else just take it back and see if you can get an exchange at the store you got it from. That isn't right.

Mine came with a stress marked and slightly warped elbow joint. It still works fine, but you gotta wonder what the hell goes on at that factory.

They probably rushed like mad to get out as many as they could after failing the initial release date. Shortcuts taken, parts stepped on, screws forgotten. I would think it's pretty likely given how much a pain in the bumper this particular figure has turned out to be. :inquisiti
