I'm willing to give it a shot if you give me specifics.
It's complicated. I'm wanting to mount a Swoop on the back of Sky Reign. Obviously difficult since Sky Lynx hasn't any ports on his back. I've taken off Sky Lynx's wings, as what I'm making doesn't need them (the hinge-arm parts used to flip Sky Lynx's wings are still there though).
I'll get one printed this weekend and let you know.
I gave it a print. Works well for holding swoop on Volcanicus' back.
Prime Masters insert nice and snuggly, but don't really fit well with Swoop installed. The Grimlock prime master is too wide at it's face, so it sits angled. The total backpack is about the depth of swoop's chest, which puts the wings a bit farther back than I expected.
I redesigned the pack as a minimalist piece that could be a weapon or something for swoop. Still pegs into Volcanicus' back. Instead of using the CW port, this pegs into Swoop's forearms.
3D design Swoop-BackMount
I think that if we let swoop mount higher on Volcanicus' back, then we could make simple Missiles out of the peg from hand into V's back. Then it add a snap on the side/middle for the wings as missiles in Dino mode.
Something like this. The pentagons would still slot into V's back, the tabs into Swoops wings, or the cylinders into his forearms or hands. If we get the dimensions down right, it could be done up with more detail for shapeways.
This is a great idea! I'll definitely print one. Can you share the thing else link?
You should be able to download an stl from the tinkercad link.
I don't have my Swoop easily at hand, but are his wings able to be modded to be removable? I wouldn't necessarily want to have duplicate dinos attached as the other limbs in lieu of Swoopy. That said, I know the complexity that goes into designing these addons, so good job!
The wings aren't designed to be removable, but they can be with some heat and modifications.
I've been trying to figure out who or what I would want to do as a 6th combiner.
Heavy/Scratch: - Another CW Defensor project--with Legends Groove as a leg!?
Maybe Slash as an arm or leg? But what would work instead of a trailer...
I'm tempted to modify a deluxe Groove into Slash, but that would take considerably more mod skills than I yet have attempted.
Then there are other Dinobot options:
Heavy/Scratch: - POTP Paddles
Minor/Repaint: - Dinobot Paddles
Minor/Repaint: - POTP: Shattered Glass Paddles
Heavy/Scratch: - Dinobot Styracosaurus "Spire"
Skar (Dynobot) - Transformers Wiki
Minor/Repaint: - Titans Return Dinobot Skar
Minor/Repaint: - Dinobot Trample
Welp, here's my take on missile pegs.
PotP Swoop Missiles to Backback by WayGroovy
I love these two minimalist designs. THIS is why I love Thingiverse.
Swoops wings are pretty well pinned in there. They might be easier to remove with a heat gun.
@WayGroovy love your designs had an idea for the limb that you’re missing you might be able to make an anckliorsaour from the stegosaurus that way the big guy can have a shield arm that fits the team and slash could be made into a sword
Ankylosaurus have a profile more like Slag's.
What ever works for you my friend
... That wasn't a suggestion, it was a correction. Your statement would apply if I said "I want to use Swoop to make an Ankylosaurus" or "A Stegosaurus would make a great base for an Ankylosaurus mod." No, no they won't. They both look nothing like an Ankylosaurus but a Triceratops or even Sludge after removing the Brontosaurus parts has a similar enough shape.
Cool design! I’m planning to print it off later on as a way to attach Slash to Volcanicus. She should be able to hold onto those pegs pretty easily. Any chance you have a Cutthroat? I’m wondering how Volcanicus would look with Cutthroat’s wings behind him.
I like Swoop mounted lower as we saw in earlier designs. Combine that with a kit to turn Sludge into Paddles and something to make use of Slash and I'm sold.
