Looks like the paint on Dust Up's arm and Pyra Magna's shoulder has chipped off. Maybe it was already there, but it's pretty unfortunate to have on one of my favorite purchases.
Am i the only one that think this combiner looks bland and uninspired? Especially since even two limbs use the same mold? Its good that trheyre creating more female characters but this design is just lazy.
update, the toes on the combiner feet was loose and she leaned forward till well victorion went head first off the shelf, i caught her, and added future to the joints
I actually didn't bother doing the Pyra Magna fix. It seems unnecessary to lock her knees with the joint being tight anyway and her ladder acting as a third leg.
What is the mod? It doesn't look like a simple disassemble and swap? Finally opened my set today and they are quite fun for being retools. Coptor fatigue has set in as has dead end fatigue. Still a very nice set and surprised to see pyra has onslaughts heel spurs
So, I've had Victorion for a while now, and I've found a few issues with her. Like a few of you, I didn't discover her QC issues until I'd already put stress marks into her legs, and I've also found that compared to Hot Spot, who has quite solid legs, hers feel more like jelly. Because of this, I've found Pyra Magna's legs are better staying as they are, because in official combined mode the two leg halves are forced apart, leaving a rather scary gap through the middle. But this now leaves a new issue. Pyra's knees aren't tight enough to hold up the full torso, and I don't know how to do the fixes that seem natural to everyone else around here (that uh, thing with floor polish?). I've also found Victorion's toes are too loose too, but I also think the pin joints are too soft for her weight, so I'm not sure how to sort it.
I found Victorion's upper torso solid. But her bottom half is just a floopy mess and afraid she'll topple over as she is rather top heavy. I managed to carefully shave the tab off without disassembling the legs for Pyra Magma. But she already had stress marks out of the box. Very small and slightly noticeable. But not a huge issue for me. I used a very small and very sharp ceramic knife for this. I also found a way to lock her left arm into place in combined mode so it doesn't flop anymore. I'm actually liking her a lot. And yeah, I found Rust Dust 'plugs' in the chest with the wheel up in 3 spots securing it more to the chest. And looks way better in this mode. Also noticed that Jump Stream and Dust Up look way better as legs than arms. They match better compared to the twins.
Finally opened my 2nd Victorion that I bought from Amazon for $40.87 total. I never was a fan of car arms until now, turned the right way will make a decent display piece. I swapped out her ridicuously tiny hands with a pair of PE G1 Superion, added another set of her high heels for some ballast on the back of the legs. Rust Dust is still in motorcycle mode, hanging out.
After seeing the IDW Revolution #4 preview, Victorion is drawn totally badass, Takara should make this version:
Bought my Victorion from amazon and there are still mis assembly on the inner knee parts on both knees. I don't see any big issue for not removing that extra piece.
Wasn't going to get Victorion, but after catching up on comics and watching the Combiner Wars cartoon I caved and got Windblade, and since I had Generations Arcee and Chromia already, it just made sense to get the last of the fembots to complete the 'set'. Also helps that she's still on sale at Amazon for $70. Since I have Prime shipping was free so, can't really argue with that price. If it wasn't for Amazon marking Victorion and Computron half off, I never would've gotten these sets. The remolding is nice. It's funny how quickly people will dismiss it entirely because they hate the color scheme or they hate Fembots (yes, there's those. Watched one of the few video reviews of this figure and guy went on the entire time about how he doesn't like Fembots). I'm a sucker for a matching color scheme and honestly I think it looks just fine. It's basically the seacons but washed out a bit. The red is rather bright and doesn't photograph well but looks fine in hand. Though I can see how people who've been collecting this line would be a bit tired of these molds, she's basically part Stunticons and part Protectobots. Rust Dust - Yes, it's legends groove. The new paint job looks nice though. Painted head looks great even if it's the same head. Cracked windshield and predominate autobot symbol look good and help distinguish the character a bit. The vehicle mode scales well with the others which is another reason I always liked groove better as a legends rather than deluxe. Dust Up - Your token Dead End mold. Vehicle mode look good even without remolding, the paint apps are nice. Silver rims, headlights and grill are nice touches, really like the side being red and the middle being green. Only real downside is the whole is still too big. The weapon pegs in loosly both on the top and in the back. Robot mode has some very nice retooling of the head and chest. Sporting that ninja mask that makes the Geewunners hard for a nightbird repaint (don't know why, it's just the head, the rest is as un-Nightbird as it gets). Does seem to be suffering form some mold degridation. Floppy joints all around. The paint apps look really nice and help bring out the details a lot. Still a very good mold. Jumpstream - It's breakdown! No retooling at all but again the paint apps are nice, green on top with red bottom and back. silver to highlight details. Still a nice sculpt. Robot mode is every bit as boxy as breakdwon. Sporting that 'Arcee' head that's very nicely painted. Also new chestpeice looks awesome. Easily the highlight of this figure. Also like her accessory. Looks good in both modes. Skyburst/Stormclash - It's...what, the seventh and eighth version of Alpha Bravo? Twins are neat and all but doing this just comes off kind of lazy to me, not Energon combiner bad but not great either. Some people may like this though, as I know some people prefer symmetry even in their combiners. The new heads are neat but instead of getting new chest molding we got new lower arms which isn't bad. If your already tired of this mold then I can understand really not wanting two more of them. Pyra Magna - This one's got the most retooling. Vehicle mode looks like a standard firetruck. I know people hate the combiner mode head hanging out there but it doesn't bother me as much. There's even extra molding to cover the face. We know it's a head because we know how it transforms already, but there's actually nothing about it that immediately says "Head here!". The problem is the pedestrian looking vehicle mode with a strange green block on it. If you use the weapons and hand/foot parts to break up the vehicle's silhouette so it looks more alien, the big green block doesn't look so bad. Unfortunately I haven't really found a combination of tabbing these extra parts on that looks good. The 'sythe' has nowhere to store aside form combining with the shaft into pick axe mode. You can tab the whole thing in but it only really blends with the back, which is the only place you can peg the foot pieces into. No matter what combination you go with, things will look a bit wonky. Robot mode looks great. Love all the new details form the new head scult, to the chest, to the arms. It's all good. Yeah the legs don't tab in fully because they are backwards but you really don't need to shave to cut those tabs off. I left them alone and she stands just fine. She even has flip out heels I don't remember hotspot having (will have to take a second look, might have missed them) and the ladder always props her up regardless. Maybe I just god lucky and mine has tighter joints then most. Combined mode is really the highlight. The unified colors really bring it together, the new headsculpt, hands, and feet look great. The sword is amazeballz! There are only two issues I have. Stability, like with all the figures, is still an issue. The extra ankle tilt is useless if the upper legs can't support the weight. Jumpstream and Dust Up also don't look as good combined. They have a stubby look I'm just not a fan of, unlike the bulky aggressive look of Brawn and Rook or the slim and angular look of the helicopters and jets. Rust Dust looks great as a chest piece, though. The only legends figure really designed with such a combination in mind. Gotta love that Autobot symbol popping out against the rest. Overall a very nice set especially for 1/2 off. If you even slightly interested in this set I would recommend buying in now. Down the road her aftermarket prices are likely to skyrocket, though I could be wrong.
I got the Takara version the other day. Has anyone idea the porpouse of those tabs on the "blade" of MegaEmpress/PyraMagna weapon? You can see the tabs I'm talking about in this picture: They're not used for the combined sword, and they looks like they're not used in altmode too. I can't figure they use for those pegs. Anyone got any idea?
Got one over the Christmas holidays. A few nitpicks: one of Rust Dust's legs falls off the ball joint easily, the crouch joint for Jumpstream is a little loose, though tightening the screw on there helps, but makes it so she can't hold Victorion's sword well in arm mode, and the chest panel for Pyra Magna opens a little crookedly, maybe because of the tiny pegs holding it in place. Otherwise, love her.
Just got her on a whim and have to say that she looks and feels way better in-hand. I totally love the color scheme and the glossy texture of the paints used. The details are very impressive (by hasbro’s standards). I have no problem with the beefcake proportion. Looks cool in its own way. She has plenty of flattering angles if you try and actively pose her around.
Sorry to zombify an old post but I love this figure as well as the assortment of 3d printed upgrades. Mainly the hip fillers and cannons (fit into the shoulders pegged, back of thigh friction pegged) and she's just awesome. The swords are also 3d in uv resin but were for cw optimus.
