Really cool. Is that chest on shapeways or did you make it yourself?

    Hi. Thank you.
It's not on shapeways. It was a design I came up with and then printed.
If you're interested in getting one, just shoot me an email at [email protected], then we can figure something out.

Turned out pretty good. The chest is rough, but that's 3d printing for ya

The paint was actually the biggest problem. The chest piece was pretty smooth from the print and finishing. But the Krylon paint had a very poor adhesion and created some dimpling. Not just on the printed piece but all over the figure. You just can't see that effect because the light is catching the chest piece and exacerbating it in particular.

You should use acrylic paints like tamiya....it's way better than krylon.

Yeah. Normally I do. But, I'd heard good things about Krylon and I had also used them on my Trailbreaker with no issues. So, I figured it shouldn't be a problem.
The end result isn't bad, by any means, but its definitely not as smooth as I would like.

My plan going forward though is to use Tamiya primer (when doing a full repaint) and then use Testors acrylics (which I use a lot now and have actually found them to be preferable to Tamiya - I prefer the finish) for standard painting. I'm hoping that will get me to where I want to be.

How did you remove the chest piece? Is it on a metal pin?

I really hope we get a new Sideswipe... I have the Universe versions of him and Sunstreaker and hate them both...

It's actually fairly easy to remove. It's not a metal pin. You just need to unclip it at the top, where it rotates.
You do have to apply a bit of force though.

I kinda like them but there are a bunch of things I don't like about them.
That's why I made this and my Sunstreaker custom based off of this mould.
This mould scales great and I think it represents both characters really well.
The mould hasbro actually used for CW Sunstreaker wasn't great imo.
So, I wasn't hopeful I'd get what I wanted even if a Sideswipe character was released.

This guy and Sunstreaker look great. I'd love to see some more CW bots done up in this more G1 style. Are there any plans to change the car mode?

Thanks. I appreciate your feedback :)

I don't have any plans to change the car. I'm a fan of the classics concept of taking an 80's alt mode and giving it a 30 year update. But, I do like to try and keep the robot faithful to the g1 idea.
I am going to get a pic of Sideswipe in his vehicle mode, with his bro, in the next few days. When I do I'll update the thread.
