I had already attached a spare Legend targetmaster Roller to the back of my Pipes to get him a bit more G1 but the blatant Huffer head still annoyed me, even after repainting his eyes red but recently I had an idea. To experiment I bought a not so randomly-chosen set of 3P Lego bits to try sort out his faceplate, and, lo & behold, one of 'em only went and actually worked!!! It's Non-permanent and means he partsforms to transform but I like the differentiation from Huffer and that it looks like a gas mask to protect him from his own corrosive gas blasts - and his G1 weapon fire too!
Arealight Head Accessories - Medallion Coronet - Blue from Firestartoys. Side spikes shaved off, a shaving off the central part to flatten it and a bit of deliberate hairdryer heat blasting. I recommend getting a few to attempt it, the reaction to heat is a bit unpredictable compared to some other plastics and I was a bit first time lucky with mine.
Not really it's non-permanent partsforming. The mask must be removed for transformation, then I plug roller in the back trailer style as you can do with him & Optimus, one cannon up top, one on Roller's vehicle mount point and the mask itself clips quite firmly in place around the handle of the rifle plugged into Roller. So, yeah, partsforming but with pretty secure vehicle mode storage.

EDIT: BTW In case you were wondering, yes, I have made 5mm ports under his forearms to let him go "Hands Free" and accommodate the barrel length increase. I used cut down ConstructBot parts, superglue and a small prayer.
