Didn't see a non-video review, so my quick thoughts.

    Strafe
One of the highlights of the set, Strafe looks excellent in vehicle mode, great in robot mode (though finding a place that isn't awkward looking for his leg wings is a bit tricky). My only complaint is that his guns are built as one solid piece and are not removable.

    Afterburner
New head looks great, as does the new windshield, making him "distinct enough" from Groove.

    Lightspeed
Is a straight up redeco of Streetwise, but manages to pull off the colors rather well.

    Nosecone
My first encounter with the drill-varient of Brawl, looks pretty decent in either mode, but is probably the weakest piece of the set. I should note I haven't had any problems securing his waist as I did with Brawl.

    Scattershot
Looks much better in this deco.

    Scrounge
Lots of personality in this little toy. Mine's head sits a little loosely in vehicle mode, but otherwise no complaints.

    Computron

The color scheme here really pops, and the unique hands and feet make him look quite powerful. Scrounge attaches rather easily, if somewhat purposelessly.

So yes, these guys are a mix of faithfulness to the original, updating, and forcing a mold into a role, but I think they manage to pull things off pretty-well overall. The combined mode is where this shines.

Computron was the first complete G1 combiner I ever assembled, so he holds a special place in my heart. And I am very satisfied with this update.

My only complaint is that he rather towers over his nemesis.

Nice review. Really hope I can afford this set one day so I can have some CHUG Technobots. Personally out shines UW's god awful color scheme and terrible Lightspeed & Strafe IMO.

Nice pictures, and thank you so much for the review. Hopefully I can pick this guy up, along with the 3P set to make him perfect. That faceplate just doesn't fit Computron at all.
I really don't like Hasbro's Afterburner's horrible windshield and Lightspeed, given the overuse of the WildRider mold.
Strafe is the best limb bot. The robot mode looks spectacular, and I love the headsculpt. Scattershot also looks a lot better.
Overall, it'll work for now. The 3P set really makes Computron worth it.

    You are welcome.

Strafe is definitely the best of the set. His only real fault is not having a weapon of his own, unlike the rest of the set.

Nice review! I can't wait to get mine. Computron was one of the only combiners I had as a kid, and by far my favorite. I've been hoping for/looking forward to this new one since the day they announced Combiner Wars.

poor strafe is unarmed. weird cause he has 2 peg holes under his wings, i would love to arm him but no idea what to arm him with

also there are better ways to store afterbreaker and strafes arms in combined mode, and they lock in great

That looks quite good too, though I like to have my combiners have elbow articulation. I've found going that way doesn't lend itself to that as well.

Fun set so far. Lights(t)eed and Strafe have a mild tendency to come apart in limb mode, but few complaints that haven't already been driven into the ground long ago. A few interesting observations though:

    * Afterbreaker has one of the greatest head/face sculpts ever. Every atom of it screams "What'd you just say to me you piece of CRAP!?!"

    * If you attach Scrounge to the mount peg while Strafe is in robot mode, it looks like he's toting a sombrero on his back.

    * Every instance of the bright 'lipstick red' on Scattershot appears to be paint.

i love strafe's angry ass headsculpt. look at that dude.

still like takara's better, but i always like toy based stuff better. sucks that we have to choose between a super faithful cartoon comp and a halfassed toy compy. oh well.

This may be the most compelling argument I've seen so far for getting this set over the Unite Warriors version.

Can you store the combiner feet and fists somewhere in the other modes?

Could the OP, or anyone else, take a comparison shot of both the single release and boxset Scattershots? I'd like to do some part swapping and want to know if the whites match up. Thanks in advance.

Why not just say you like something without calling something else "god awful" and "terrible"? Putting IMO at the end doesn't really help, IMO. But anyway, there's a lot to like about both sets. I went ahead and ordered the Takara version because I favor the darker reds and head sculpts and with preorders selling out so fast I'm guessing he'll be tough to grab later on. I'll likely pick up the Hasbro version around Christmas, hoping to catch a discount. Hell, I might even go for Quantron. Can't have enough Technobots.

You know, I really love UW Strafe. Oddly enough, I have CW Strafe in-hand and I like that one as well. I don't think I like it better than its Takara counterpart, but it does remind me a bit of the G1 Strafe I had as a child.

If CW Strafe didn't have Air Raid's chest, which is a bit too distinctly Air Raid's, I would say CW Strafe is better. But UW gets a (semi) unique chest, plus he gets the shoulder wings. I do like the CW head and alt mode better though.
