The Transformers and pre-Transformers community is made up of some of the most interesting, diverse and dedicated people I’ve ever met in my life. I’ve taken more enjoyment out of their company, knowledge and experience than any toy, cartoon or comic related to Transformers.

This week sees TFsource Articles launch our Collector Interviews, the first in what will hopefully be a long and successful series of interviews with a variety of Transformers and pre-Transformers collectors. Collector interviewee 01 is a well-known UK collector who has contributed much to the documentation of weird G1 variants, and one of the very first people I met online in the TF community…

Cool interview. Pretty good advice. And yes...screw AFA grading on TFs! They are meant to be enjoyed.

What a fun read. This guy was downright honest and it came across as not only funny, but in many cases true. I hope the collector's interviews continue.

A Unicrotch and Two Hercs? I want that.

Screw #7 why should I even go to the cool thread? And now we have two? I agree in part especially when it comes to decisions in life with TFs in it. Yes there's always a good deal out there.

Interesting stuff and a great read as usual Maz. The guy was definitely not holding back in his answers and had some very good advice. This one made me laugh

Loved the article, very very interesting, especially about the Mini-bots,
like the anecdote about the silver IGA Cliffjumper, wow!

Love the interview! Once you dropped the name 'Daniel Vink' stuff gets interesting fast! I haven't heard of or spoken to him in years! His original G1 metal predaking still prides my shelves.

Also I agree that shit got bad in the last ten years....

    Great interview and advice!

    7. Never judge yourself by others. No matter who you are, someone will have something you want, or have a better collection than you so don’t compete. Love your collection and be happy with what you have, because buying stuff you don’t want just for “status” amongst an online community is expensive and no one really cares anyway. Yeah you may be the envy of perhaps 30 people, but does that really enrich your life?

Nice article/interview. What he says is very true in that you really have to set limits for yourself, which I had found there was a point where I was dipping into other areas that I didnt even really care for....movie verse back in 07...but quickly grew tired of them. For me its always been about G1 and G1 inspiried figures, so refocused myself and got back to only buying what I was interested in.

AFA now grading loose figures....mah...I didn't care for them grading sealed figures and the prices those command on ebay, but I understand the concept, but I think it goes too far...and its only going to get worse with loose figures. But to each is own.

I'm glad the reception has generally been positive regarding the interview. I've already got another 6 or so ready to go, and had a peek at their answers, needless to say it should just continue in the same vein of interesting responses and droolworthy collection pictures :)

Not to mention the odd forthright opinion (from both sides)

I've asked for interview responses from a very pro-AFA collector who I know is definitely not a penny-chaser or in it for the inflated value of graded toys, so I'm really looking forward to uploading that one when it's finished.

    All the best
