I've always wondered if the "insane" collections = "insane" income, or just dedication. By insane I mean OMG awesome of course!

For those who would like to keep this as anonymous as possible. I was thinking we can post our collection count in the thread, and the come back later to take the poll. That way you can't directly correlate a new post in the thread directly to tick in the poll. However for accuracy I would ask that if you do post your collection count please answer the poll with 24 hours.

As with most threads I make I'm sure the MODs will move this. Sorry in advance MODs.

Just wanted to say again you don't _have_ to post your income publicly just your collection count.

I make between $40-60,000/year, and my collection is not THAT insane. I have other priorities, mostly kids and wife.

Since most of you are being so open I will join in. Our household income is about $200k. I have about 320 Transformers.

40k-60k, loads of bills. Still a nice-sized collection.

I make $350,000- $400,000 per year and my collection is small compared to most. I live in Wisconsin so my cost of living is on par with the rest of the midwest I would guess. I have to add though that over $100,000 goes to pay state and federal taxes.

These polls are useless. everyone on the net is a millionaire. I have met several so called high rollers on the net that when I meet them in real life, they still have the BMW, but its on a lease and they split rent on a shack.

Well, with income you also have to consider cost of living. I live in TN, so my cost of living is low, even though I live near "the city". My parents who live in the country, REALLY live cheaply. People out in CA, would probably starve to death on our wage.

I personally make $78k/year (software developer), and my wife (teacher) makes $35k/year or so. So together, we're doing good (until we have a kid, and she quits teaching for a while). When it's just my income, since we're near the city, I'll have to cut back on all the transformers. That's why I'm trying to get all the Japanese toys now :)

And my collection is in the 900s. My collection count has noticeably gone up in size or become stagnant directly related to my income. When I was a co-op, even though I was only getting paid $12.50/hour, it was in fairly rural TN, rent was dirt cheap (and I had a roommate), and it really exploded. Then I came to Nashville making $35k/year, and ate lots and lots of peanut butter sandwiches, and bought few toys. As my income has slowly went up, and I got a large raise two months ago (after months and months of 60-80 hour weeks), it's now booming again with new acquisitions. But we're also putting alot of it into savings, as well as paying off the mortgages at an accelerated rate. So it's all good :)

Haha, are we talking BEFORE or AFTER I got laid off? Cause it makes a huge difference...both in terms of collection AND income. ;)

That statement seems a little unwarranted (so far atleast). The polls seem to be pretty honest right now.

I make double what I did 2 years ago, and my collecting has slowed down. Mind you, I am becoming a more picky collector instead of an "OMG GOTTA HAVE IT ALL!" collector. So I am only buying the ones I REALLY want.

I just spend way too much on toys. I love 'em and sometimes spend when I shouldn't. Hopefully one day I'll find a balance between being sensible with my money and being able to get the stuff I want.
