While at Botcon I found out my dog went crazy in my collection room. After I came home, my main worry was about my dog (apparently my mom wasn't taking care of him while I was away) but after I saw he was going to be fine, my attention went to my collection room.

Amazingly enough, the Deceptopack which you can see buried escaped undamaged. Unfortunately, I can't say that to most of the movie items. I have a HUGE stack of items that have been chewed on, clawed at, and ripped. My train set box has nice rips on the top now and my Slag Costume box is now destroyed. Hopefully I can exchange the movie items since I did keep the receipts.

Anybody else have horror stories of their collection being destroyed?

It was firmly closed when I left. However, if the door is opened then closed quickly it doesn't latch. I KNOW for a fact my mom had to open the door at one time while I was away. I made sure over and over again that door was firmly closed before we left. We thought maybe the dog could open it on his own, but it's one of those heavy, skeleton key turn nobs. There's no way my dog could have opened it.

  Knowing what you have gone through for much of that stuff and how much pride it all gives you, I have to agree, if she agreed to watch the dog, send her a bill.

Guys...you don't send your own mom a bill...

Sorry to hear that Alphie. That really sucks. At least all the movie stuff is readily available. I hope everything can be replaced without too much hassle.

If her actions directly resulted in your stuff getting destroyed, you do.

Damn, that's not nice. I don't think anything is broken, but judging by those pics those are more important to you MISB, so tough luck.

That really sucks Alphie. I cringe and worry everytime my nieces come over for a visit and go in my room, but thankfully they've never really broke anything. Hope you can replace the stuff.

What kind of dog you have?

Whoa, that's one of those deals you just chalk up to "sh** happens". Its tough I know, when my little sister was a toddler I came home to find that she had destroyed my entire football/baseball card collection. It sucks but you have to press on.

I agree, u don't charge your mom regardless...i'm sure with that mentality, you'd be a starving child if your mom made you pay for the food she makes and the roof she puts over your head. Not to mention when you were a child, you destroyed some crazy shit.

Good thing I have pomerians, the worst that can happen is a MISB with bonus pee stains...

And people keep asking me why I don't want a dog...

Sorry to see that Alphie :(  I'd say that you let your dear mother pay! One should always repay damages caused by ones direct ot inderect irresponsible actions! Regardless of who they are!

    Okay, honestly:

NO, YOU DON'T. You care for the pet, communicate with your family and reach an understanding. I'd assume dysfunctional folks might try to bill their family for damaging material goods, but you've got to be either off your fuckin' rocker or part of a real messed up family to do that.

    Alphie is neither.

There's a vast difference between caring and loving a family member and obsessing about toys. One is far more important than the other. :stick:

As for my horror story: Back when my Mom was alive, she used to be a pretty compulsory cleaner. I remember that she came into the area in the basement where I kept my Transformers and said, "This place is a mess. I'm going to move some of these." I heard a tremendous crash and came in to find that she had knocked a bunch of my customs over, breaking them. :(

My Mom started apologizing and I, y'know, acknowledged and helped her move the TFs out of the way.
