    Hey everyone,
Since there isn't a music subsection, I was wondering if anyone on here collects vinyl records (and if anyone knows any good online places to purchase?)...

Just started getting some records on vinyl (mostly "boombap/conscious/underground/instrumental" hip hop, some alternative/emo type stuff), and was looking for some alternatives to getting lucky (or paying too much) on ebay!

    Thanks ya'll.

Yes, but only old stuff. I have no interest in buying modern releases recently pressed, as such I get everything from thrift stores and flea markets etc.

I wish I was cool and hipster enough to have a vinyl collection.

    Alas.

Thrift stores have them for, like, $.25 or $1.

We have a turntable hooked up to our home theater system. It is awesome. Nothing like going to Cheapo or Half Price Books and finding something cool.

I tend to stay away from the newer stuff though as new vinyl from major labels is more than CDs, though sometimes they do include a coupon for a digital download of the album as well.

I collect vinyl from bands I like. I have near-complete collections of Depeche Mode, New Order, Erasure, Nine Inch Nails, and Sheep On Drugs. I also have some original Kraftwerk albums, and a bunch of others.

I'll have to check out those links. I've been buying records again lately since getting a working turntable and having a receiver with a working pre-amp in it. I mostly get them from thrift stores and garage sales. Sometimes you can find good stuff.

i have tons of 1st Editions from the 50's 60's 70's and beyond. I have also found a HUGE lot of old timey records in my old victrolla that still works. Awesome, i may be crazy but nothing sounds as good as an old vinyl... playing on an old turn table. brings me back.
