If I remember correctly, Pete said that this set was outside classics, and on it's own.

This Megatron seals the deal even more with me. It probably can not top last year's exclusives, but i think it will come close.

 

Watch it be classics gun Megatron in G1 colors... DIFFERENT than the Japanese release.

What is the 'Shattered Glass' storyline?

 

It's this years Botcon theme. Alternate universe with Evil Autobots and Good Decepticons.

 

I think this is a good guess. With a new head mold, this will make a great young Megatron. It's a tank, has a large, right arm-mounted cannon, and is quite heavily armed. Another clue is this mold's conspicuous absence from the movie line, a line that seems desperate to repaint realistic military vehicles.

 

And just when I thought I might actually purchase a Botcon set, they make Megs a convention exclusive. No sense in getting the set if I can't get a benevolent Megatron at the 'normal' price.

 

You forgot one thing that I think is pretty important-- in addition to the Universe previews (which honestly, though still nice, are slightly underwhelming compared to Classics 1.0, particularly Powerglide-- Onslaught and, to a lesser extent, Tankor/Octane are nice, though), we have it confirmed that Universe will NOT just consist of Deluxes, Ultras, and Robot Heroes-- Universe will also have a Voyager size class and a Legends size class. Also, yes, the Ultra toys will have lights and sounds, in case anyone was skeptical.

 

This isn't serious, is it? In what universe would Hasbro ever make a "benevolent Megatron" available at retail?


OK. Perhaps the "Shattered Glass" universe, but besides that one....

 

I think he means he wants Megatron as part of the main box set that non-convention attendees can purchase as part of the Iacon package.

 

Bingo. Without Megs, the set is incomplete to me. And I'm not about to pay scalper prices for it.
