Anybody else get it? I thought the featurette with the monster designer was pretty cool. Also, seeing all the green-screen stuff on set, it's INCREDIBLE how they made it look like the streets of New York. I know of two hidden secrets so far. On one, if you push to the left or right on the setup menu somewhere, there's a hidden montage of the crew of the set. Also, in the scene selection, go to the last part (scenes 12-16) and wait a couple minutes. Scene 17 will appear and have some secret videos, but its mostly the viral videos that were on the viral sites.
I intend to buy it, but I'm renting it first (seeing as it gets delivered instantly and I doesn't take weeks, like it does to get a store). Can't wait to see it!
Spoilers: I know when it was in theaters someone had said you can see something hit in the water at the end of the movie when it goes back to them at coney island. I was never able to spot it until just now. It is before the camera points at them, and is shooting out at the coast. Something definitely hits the water in the background. Kinda cool.
I got it yesterday, just haven't had a chance to play around with it. Loved in the theatre and I'm looking forward to the special features, even though this will be obsolete when they bring out the "super extended Monsters cut Blu Ray kill you" version.
i'm waiting till a special edition or something comes out. but i did rent it and watch it a third time over. it was way cooler in theaters but still TOTALLY awesome. and unfortunately the BRAND NEW DVD froze with two minutes to go so i totally missed the thing falling in the water.
Yeah, a friend picked this version up for me, but I don't have it in-hand yet. Supposed to have an exclusive 2nd disc, too.
Very cool DVD! I couldn't see Clover all that well in the theatre, but now I can actually see what he is doing more clearly. Like the part where he turns a corner and smashes his whole body through a building head first and just demolishes it. Also, I still don't know if he is from outer space, or the ocean. That scene at the end on the ferris wheel is so confusing.
That's a satellite falling into the ocean, which wakes up Clover. Clover is from the ocean. Anyone got a chance to see the alternative endings? I think I saw one on youtube but it was pretty crappy.
If it comes with a second disk I got ripped off. There isn’t a place for a second disk in the box. Here are the different versions. Best Buy and Target do come with extra stuff. http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/04/14/cloverfield-dvd-exclusives/
Still sounds like it came from the ocean. JJ said it, and the special effect guys said in an interview that he was initially covered in seaweed, barnacles etc., but that JJ ordered them to take it off to keep his visual origin as vague as possible.
yeah, my wife was looking at the target version..comes with a cd...i'm gonna get this, but wanna wait awhile...i totally enjoyed it, just not sure if i need to own it right away...but my birthday is next tuesday, so someone will probably buy it for me anyway...
So, he was a baby, from the ocean, awoken by a crashing satellite. How long was he down there? I cannot wait for a sequel. I would like to know more about why the parasites cause people to bleed from their orifices, and then asplode.
Thousands of years, appearantly. And that was something else the special effects guys talked about. Appearantly, it's some kind of severe hemmorphage(spelling check) infection...
