I really hope Megatron is decent. Lockdown was a great villain marred by his lack of screentime and fact that he died. He just had a great personality (i.e., a personality period) that was subdued and far above the typical snarling, animalistic Decepticon monsters. Megatron only needs to have that same sophistication to him, and just not die in this one.

Great personality and bum lets not forget that...:lolol

Lockdown had a motive but we never knew much else about him, why he does what he does...and yes him dying certainly didn't help. Megatron has been played as more of an annoyance than the Big Bad in the last few films, I worry he will be exactly that here...but who knows.

That's what kinda stings for me. I think that's the difference between not knowing things about him, and those things not existing. He talked with pathos and a more worldly (universal?) perspective. You could tell just from the way he talked, the way he handled himself, he was like a fixer. A Mike-type character who was less a villain with personal goals and more like a guy doign his job. That's why I really wish he didn't die.

As opposed to what how do you wrap up AOE without killing him. How do you end it with optimus seeking out his creators if Lockdown is still alive? How do you resolve Age and not kill Lockdown? Have you even considered this? If you leave Lockdown alive the movie is just left hanging and for no reason either. Lockdown isn't going to just retreat he doesn't give up. Optimus isn't going to spare him, not while knowing he will never stop targeting him. It makes no sense to keep Lockdown alive, there's no rational way to do it and if you do Age doesn't properly wrap up.

You people never think of these things you just go I liked that character they shouldn't of died even if there's no way to keep them alive that doesn't counteract their character or leave the movie incomplete. You keep Lockdown alive and then what, what do you do, what reason is there to keep him around that is relevant to the story, how do you continue his story in a way that isn't repetitive? What comes next did you ever even ask yourself this question? You don't keep a character around if their story is over. Lockdown's story was over, seriously what else do you do, can you answer this question?

So glad to see someone else with the same opinion. Of all the things the movies did wrong and failed at, Lockdown was the one character that the movies actually did incredibly well. Aside from the fact he was killed off of course.

I want Megatron to finally have that nefarious class and swagger that he's known for, and not JUST savage brutality. He's got the design, all he needs now is the personality to back it up. I want to actually be able to relate to Megatron this time, and not just view as the big, growling, metal monster that he has been. Show me the more intricate tactics that Megatron brings to the table, instead of doing every single thing with brute force. This is the bloody lord of the Decepticons, and I as a viewer would like to actually see and feel that.

I think Frank Welker is gonna use a little different version of his classic Megatron voice, maybe something similar to TF: Prime Megatron.

What makes it tricky is that he's so thoroughly established as a brute that they can't take an entirely new direction. Whatever they do, they have to work it around his brutish personality. I guess they can do what Prime did (intentionally or not) and make him mentally unstable, however I feel that requires a second in command who can reign him in, like Dreadwing should've been in Prime.

I don't see any reason to believe that he'll use a different voice from the one he used in AOE.

Optimus wants to find the creators. Lockdown has a ship and has a way to come into contact with them. Just have Optimus capture Lockdown at the end, put him in restraints or whatever, take his hypothetically-now-not-destroyed-ship, and he still leaves but now he is accompanied by someone who knows where the hell they're going (instead of just freezing out in the vacuum of space lol). It works out for Lockdown too since Optimus is willingly coming with him to the creators now that Galvatron's plan was foiled on Earth. And then we get Optimus and Lockdown partners in space.

but you know "honor to the end" or something
