I'm not suicidal (unties rope from ceiling, puts chair back) J/K.....But I do see your point I won't disagree that. But in all honesty, it's my choice and the choice of whoever is in the car with me or in the cars around me. I know that I take my life in my own hands by not wearing it and I accept that.....if it's my time, it's my time.
When I'm in the car with other people, seatbelts are usually worn by all. Other people in the car complicates the issue, and I'm not disagreeing with everyone wearing their belts. I'm referring to a situation with only the driver in the car. One guy driving down the road not wearing a seatbelt does not automatically make him a suicidal cretin nor a bad driver. The chances of him flying out the windshield and killing someone else is so remote that it doesn't require consideration.
If your car has a seatbelt in the seat in which you are sitting, and you don't wear it, then you are a freakin moron. You run the gauntlet of killing yourself or somone else in an accident or any incident that makes you stop suddenly. I only don't wear one when there isn't one available. If you willingly ignore the safety feature, then yes, you're a fool. I don't care how safe a driver you are, it doesn't mean others aren't going to drive into you and do you worse damage due to you ignoring your seatbelt...
If a mechanism is there to prevent your death, and you don't use it, what does that make you? How many ways can someone like that be truly honestly described?
Holy shit, the board's white knight insulting people. I believe the internet has just cracked in half.
About as badly as someone who smokes. Smoking is a proven killer, yet lots of people do it. The safety mechanism here is not smoking. Do you consider people who smoke to be suicidal morons as well? You should.
Hmm... remember that post a page or so back, when you talked about how "you can't have a conversation without resorting to insults."...?
We should use seatbelts, but we don't need a law for it IMO. It should be your personal responsibility to wear a seatbelt, which it already is. Just as it should be your personal responsibility not to smoke because that is going to kill you and possibly others as well.
Yes, actually. I smoke, and I fucking hate it. So you know what I am doing? I'm working on giving up. I'm doing pretty damn well at it too. However, not wearing a seatbelt isn't a physical and mental addiction. And you didn't answer my question. Therefore, I will ask it again. I'll even bold it so you don't miss it. If a mechanism is there to prevent your death, and you don't use it, what does that make you? How many ways can someone like that be truly honestly described? See? I even made it bigger too. Oh, and again: nice edit.
but... but I used a smiley to convey a joke. An insult would have been if I called Sage stupid, a cretin, or brain-damaged.
You both have valid points (yet i don't think i'm a fool or a moron, maybe an ass but that's another story) and I know that I not only endanger myself but others by doing this but it's my choice, no one can make me do something I don't feel like doing. I am adult and if I can vote for the president (which I didn't this year b/c they both sucked) I can choice not to wear a seat belt. If that makes me a moron or fool or ass or whatever you want to call it then so be it....I'll make that my next license plate
..........Wow. You KNOW that you're risking your own life, and the lives of other people, but you won't be safe because it's your choice NOT to do so? I think that would be a very good idea.
I saw it the first time, and wearing a seatbelt or not is a learned habit, similar to smoking. I'm not going to label people by their personal habits like smoking and seatbelt wearing.
You know that you endanger people, but say screw it, it's your choice? My god man, think about what you just said...
I'm glad you appreciate what I said....what are you going to change yours too...lol...this is all in good clean fun though and I do try to wear it when I can just like you are trying to stop smoking.....it takes time to get used to it.
