CLERKS II The Passion of the Clerks
Tagline: They Still Don't Like You. In Fact, They Like You Even Less.

The sequel picks up 10 years later. "It's about what happens when that lazy, 20-something malaise lasts into your 30s. Those dudes are kind of still mired, not in that same exact situation, but in a place where it's time to actually grow up and do something more than just sit around and dissect pop culture and talk about sex," Smith said during an interview at his Hollywood office. "It's: What happened to these dudes?"
A calamity at Dante and Randall's shops sends them looking for new horizons - but they ultimately settle at Mooby's, a fictional Disney-McDonald's-style fast-food empire. Free from his dead-end job (and lodged in a new one), Dante begins to break free of his rut, planning to move away with his clingy fiancé. Dante is ready to leave the horrors of minimum-wage New Jersey behind, but Randal - always the more hostile of the two - starts to become overwhelmed by his own rancor.

I read awhile ago that Kevin Smith planned on retiring the characters of Jay & Silent Bob, but promised Jason Mewes he could play the Jay charcter again if he got clean, as a motivation to get Jason off heroin.
Kevin Smith's wife is in this one again, as is Ben Affleck and Jason Lee. Rosario Dawson is a newbie, but could be interesting.
    I'm excited to see it.

I think there was a thread (or two?) on this a few months ago, including a link to the trailer. If memory serves, drippy was the one that first posted the link.

However, I'm A) no mod and B) not planning to actively worry about it, so...uh...yeah. Technically old news, but I'm not keeping score.

You know, I'm a huge fan of Kev's work. But I'm just not feeling this at all. I know he promised this to Jason and all, but it's time to move on. Jersey Girl was a step in the right direction, this feels like 3 steps back.

As I mentioned in the thread from way back when, this is one of the most unnecessary movies in cinematic history. It's also a totally wrong move for Smith to make.

Though more Rosario Dawson in movies is never a bad thing.

As far as most clinical experts are concerned, you never actually get un-addicted to something. You're always an addict, and you always have to deal with it and be responsible for avoiding situations where you might relapse. In other words, it's a bit like a neurological and psychological version of herpes: you can keep it from breaking to the surface, but its with you for life.

What he isn't anymore (hopefully) is a heroin user.

Well, i got Clerks on dvd for Xmas, and i might go see this if i can rope in a couple of other people to come see it with me, since this seems more of a "see it with your like-minded friends" movie. :D

Nice to see other Kevin Smith regulars in the movie though...

Smith has so much potential...and resorting to the ole dick and fart jokes, from a creative standpoint, wasn't what he should be doing IMO.

I agree completely. I'll take more of the animated Clerks any day of the week, but I really don't need another Clerks movie. Especially since Brian O'Halloran now looks almost exactly like the asshole roommate I had sophomore year.

I can't think of a single thing in the world that wouldn't benefit from more Rosario Dawson. :D

On one hand, I agree; particularly due to the fact that the last "New Jersey characters" story - Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was, although funny, relatively flat in terms of the original humor we've come to expect from Kevin Smith.

However, I'll give him credit for knowing how to make money, which is, above all, why Hollywoodites are in Hollywood. Even if he's making something which is (and we can all easily agree to this, I'd assume) VERY formulaic, he'll be able to put another box-office profit in his pocket.

I even liked her Deleted scene from "The Devil's Rejects" and she was quite bloody after Dr. Satan was through with her.
