Which is fine by me if the apple was just a fake plastic one to begin with, and the orange is actually something I can eat ;)

Unless, of course, you are the entity that determines what an apple and an orange is. In that case, if they want to call an apple an orange, there isn't much that you can do about it. You can let your wallet speak, but that is about it.

No more realistic? Metal can be made to bend, it can be made to fragment, It cannot, within current scientific knowlage; mass shift or disappear into "subspace"

Yes, it would. Whether you like it or not.

Reminds me of the end of Colin Bakers first story as The Doctor. "I AM the Doctor, whether you like it or not!"

Exactly, this movie is just "another universe" (to loosely use a comic term). Just as R.I.D., Armada/Energon/Cybertron, BW/BM are all different concepts based on a common background/history. If the bodys are different, but there is a classic name for the character (i.e. bumblebee) then the new body isn't a total shock and dissapointment. What is important, is that some of the important personality traits we have all grown to know and love about the Transformers race is carried into the new "universe" as it has been in most story lines so far. ofcourse this is all IMO

But the way it bends and morphs just doesn't fit with Bay's whole reasoning for making the characters look the way they do. I know metal can bend, but it leaves stress marks and has other undesirable effects. Really more so than the bending is the way the metal has to morph or fold away to nothing in order to have the robots look the way they do. Transformers Alt modes have always been easily fairly easily identified while in robot mode. These don't have much that distinguishes them. Also, most of the mass shifting was only made to make the characters bigger or a particular weapon bigger in one form or another. With current toy technology, not even considering full-scale technology, most of the G1 characters could be fairly accurate in both robot and alt mode, so there isn't as much need for "subspace". I apologize that my statement wasn't exactly well thought through, but the fact that Bay says metal morphing and doing what it has to do in order for the robots to look how they look isn't all that realistic. Transformers have a certain "look". And just because a company calls something a Transformer by name, doesn't make it a Transformer. Remember the super powered motorcycle called the Tomahawk, it wasn't really a tomahawk, it was just called the Tomahawk.

That's the alt-mode. You do NOT want to see the robot mode (or at least the toy). :drunk

The eyes actually make him look better to me. Still, it's not enough to convince me that everything else will look ok.

I forgot Pirates 3 was coming out this summer, too.
Transformers, Pirates, Fantastic Four, Spider-man; this is going to be a GREAT summer for movies.
