I've seen pictures of the clear Car Brothers set. I own a clear Car Brothers set (figures still sealed in the plastic tray at the moment), and I have yet to see this, a very clear Wild Ride:

Every Wild Ride I've seen from the clear set was painted or had stickers applied to the vehicle as shown in the pic off TFU.info (http://tfu.info/2000/Cybertron/ClearWildRide/vehiclemode.jpg). Were there Wild Rides packed into the set that had no vehicle deco?

I'm just trying to figure out if this clear Wild Ride I picked up was "tampered" with in that the vehicle deco was removed or if there's something more to this.

I'd appreciate any input I can get on this.

The Car Brothers are Japanese RID figures (Prowl, Sideburn, X-Brawn). The clear set was some exclusive.

Sorry I'm no help as I have never heard of clear clear Wildride. He certainly looks cool though.

It is possible it was a spray op messup. Meaning, it was overted. Check the pins, molding etc.. Compare it to the set you have that is painted. If everything is exact I would say it is a messup. You might try looking up luckydraws, japanese store exclusives but I know of none.

It seems a prototype for me. Nice find. Hope we could find more about it.

Prototype and paint mess-up were my two thoughts about the figure. Besides the difference in paint apps, the only other difference between this and the painted one that I can see is the lack of the chromed grill/front bumper piece on this one.

Pics as requested (trying to put emphasis on the unpainted vehicle body pieces):

Thank you! He looks great. I would have liked my clear Wildride even better if he was like that. I always thought the paint on the car body made him appear less clear.

A prototype seems unlikely as usually they are either painted or unpainted or test painted. The last meaning not the final colors. I now do not think it's a spray op as at least two different colors are missing. Usually if it's a spray op it's because a specific color ran out on the line and it was not caught. Two colors running out is unlikely. I don't know how you obtained it or whatever so don't take this the wrong way but it looks to me like someone removed the outer colors. Probably because the clear looks way better. I might be wrong of course. In any case, looks great.

    Nice!

Either the vehicle markings have been removed or this was a preproduction sample and they were never applied. There was never an official release minus the deco.

Is the paint that easily removed without leaving any trace? If so I would really like to get a hold of another set and try it...

Never thought about someone removing the paint apps... I figured it was just an error in terms of the paint apps.
