As usual(for me anyway) this is a very minor and painless mod that gives this robot a more G1 look.

I basically just took an SC-19 Superlink Wheeljack(much easier to work with here than Energon Downshift since the colors are more G1 accurate already) and used a G1 WJ reprolabel set on him with some white backed Autobot symbols.

Superlink Wheeljack is kind of a pain to find but much easier to do this mod on because it requires no painting.

Came out pretty decent I think.

Nice. Are you going to mod him any further to get the full G1 vibe?

ooh, sweetness. I've got this figure on my classics shelf as well. I might have to add wj stickers to my next reprolabels order!

Agggh! I looked everywhere for the Japanesse version as well, but couldn't find one.

I'm actually in the middle of disassembling my US version to Rit dye all of the puke green parts black. Pain in the ass, but hopefully it pays off.

Simply put, SC-19 Superlink Wheeljack just has a more G1 accurate color scheme.
Energon Downshift has a strange greenish color where the grey is supposed to be and on the rims of the wheels.

I believe the grey Autobot symbol is in a different spot as well.

SC-19 Wheeljack is a pain to find Stateside these days. It took me months to find one MISB, I finally found a guy in England that was selling one for a real decent price about a month ago. Well worth it if you can find one though.

Well you're really lucky to have one because here in the Philippines TF Energon Downshift is not always available.

Thanks . I've seen one Downshift in one of the stores , I just needed to dispose off my 25th anniv Joes so that I can grab one. How about the size or scale of earth mode and robot mode? Does it fit with the classics deluxe scale ?

No problem with the colors, I can do the paint job.

Yeah its basically a classics deluxe size and fits in absolutely perfect with the Classics line IMO. I display mine with my Classics and it looks great. Its about as close to a G1 looking Wheeljack as you can get until Hasbro/Takara gives us something else.

I should take pics of mine. I've got the energon one painted a bit to get rid of the puke green, did the little wing mod so that the parts on the back of his legs are now above his shoulders, and he sits on my classics/neo-g1 shelf with others like energon inferno, roadblock, ti rodimus and animated grimlock.

Thanks, so the green on Downshift and gray on Wheeljack is the only difference, well repaints can take care of that :)

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that I can still find that Downshift I saw at the shop which is like a 1hour ride from here. All I need now is a bit of cash and a lot of luck :)

I've been looking for a Superlink Wheeljack for YEARS with no luck... I'd really be interested to see how that dye job turns out...

I'd like the green parts to be pretty much ANY other color... I've even considered recasting them in grey, but there's so many pins and so many green parts that it becomes an annoying chore...

I got real lucky on finding my Superlink Wheeljack. A guy in England was selling it on Ebay MISB but he had it mis-labeled in his auction as a "Galaxy Force Wheeljack", so no one bid on it but me. Lucky!
