I was looking at my old classics Starscream and wondering what to do with him. The new universe Starscream and Henkei versions made this one look a little stale. So now you have Sunstorm, A pretty basic tape and spray repaint. The inspiration for which camme from comic images and customs that others have done on this site. Being my last Classics custom, I'll also post a couple group photos.

    enjoy,

Paint looks realy smooth and a great balance of colors, it can be hard to balance that when alot of the hues are the same.

I've been holding onto an extra seeker in hopes of painting a sunstorm.. THIS.... is truly inspiring! The paint app is very smooth, clean, and as mentioned before, a great balance of color.

I am always going back and forth in my decision between his yellow or orange color... I think you nailed it.

It looks great. Yeah, I've got Universe Starscream on preorder as well. Problem with that though is that I just might prefer my classics Starscream's colors over his and it might be my Universe one that I end up painting as Sunstorm. But I disgress: sweet custom. :thumb

dude everything is awesome and ,i love the orange choice. one thing though his face needs some definition maybe a black wash or the eyes need to be brighter. just my two cents.

    Thanks everybody!

I use only tamiya paints and spray cans for my customs. After taping off the red on the wings and gold in the air intakes, I then sprayed 4 thin coats of white primer to get it all uniform. Then I worked from the lighter colours to the darker ones using white, camel yellow and bright orange. I then finished it off with gold highlights and cut strips off of the gold autobot logos I got from Reprolabels to make the gold stripes on the wings. I agree about the face but I was trying to keep the theme of the Hasbro/Takara figures so that he wouldn't stand out too much.

    Thanks again for the feedback!
    TT.

Flawless paint app! Tamiya really is great stuff. I agree the face needs some minor detail, but this is a great piece!

Unfortunatly some of the TFs with tight or sliding transformations dont get transformed more than once for the photo op. There is usually a part that needs a little touch up but if I take my time it prevents most of it. A clear coat over the finished product can help as well but with too many coats it can make things worse in some spots.
