As I said back when I did it, my first Skylynx like this was just an idea I had that I squeezed in between doing commissions.
It was a bit rushed because I don't like making customers wait, but people generally seemed to really like it.

This time the plan was to take that idea and make the best of it I could. I wanted to improve on the few things people mentioned that could be better, and do a few things I wished I had time to do the first time.

This version, Skylynx 2.0, has lots of little changes. I hope you guys like it!

    - MUCH more clean and detailed paint work. (still sticking to the factory clean toy look though.)
    - Sharp little teeth for the bird monster and dragon mode.
    - Legs of the TFP Soundwave base figure were sculpted together and some seams were filled and sanded for a more seamless look.
    - Birdy legs are permanently attached. You cant remove them for a sleeker UAV mode, but they wont fall off either.
    - More robotic lynx head and front claws.
    - Lynx head is now on a ball joint neck.

The new cat head is definitely an improvement.

i love it, still wish it were larger though. I imagine even a scout class Sky Lynx being this size.

CHUG Cheetor's head just looked odd, this is much better. Can't wait for a hopeful 3.0. :)

Alright, an update! As far as I'm concerned, the lynx is perfect. Don't change a thing. However...

    Raptor.
    Looks.
    Odd.

You gotta make some dedicated parts, or some non-crazy articulation for the wings and neck. I just can't get past the strangeness of him in solo raptor mode.

I love you for making this, though. I wonder if you could work any marvels with the original Straxus figure.

The fangs look weird to me. I never really could see him having fangs. Or teeth, for that matter.

But beyond that, this is AMAZING. I especially love the "combined" robot mode, really pulls off the Sky Lynx trademark look but also shaves off a LOT of unnecessary bulk like the old one had for a much sleeker look.

Well he is going to ebay. Just not sure if for bidz or BIN yet.

Primarily Gen Skullgrin, TFP Soundwave, and BM Cheetor, with classics Grimlock dino-legs and an Energon Megatron gun.

Thanks! It was tougher to make it fit into the tank mode but I like it much better myself too.

Yeah in the show Skylynx was so big that Rodimus and other regular sized transformers looked tiny riding on his back. At the same time, a UAV or tank being WAY larger than CHUG Starscream or Warpath would look even more out of scale. He is voyager sized in dragon mode. Going by the G1 show, even WST figures would be too big next to him. Hasbro has been good about doing the same thing I did here though in the classics line- Making classic G1 characters the wrong size.
I think with some CHUG toys however, like Powerglide, Seaspray, and Jetfire, the size change works much better for their alt modes scale (not that many of them are in scale even in alt mode). That was the thinking here too, but I guess you can reason out anything if ya want to bad enough. :)

I agree. It was on the list of things to improve on the next one even as I finished the first. The original was made from nothing but parts left over on my desk after doing several commissions though.

Raptor? Well if you are looking at the tweety bird as a raptor then yes it does look super weird, heh.
I don't really know what the 'sky' half of Skylynx is. A pterodactyl? A buzzard? Whatever he was he just looked like a big NASA ship with robo-bird parts and lots of sharp teeth.

But... He always DID have teeth. Big sharp ones, and more of them then I gave this fella. I wish there had been a feasible way to give him lower teeth too but I figured this was better than the nothing my first version had. I hoped the teeth would make the dragon mode much more menacing and add to the modern spin on the old G1 character. I figured the teeth would be okay in UAV mode too because a lot of military aircraft have had the shark teeth design painted on the front in a similar design.

I suppose whoever gets this can just break off the teeth, do a little sanding with a file or something, and touch up the white paint if they don't like the teetheses.
I wasn't even sure how the teeth idea would go over as I was doing it.

If you do another update, you could carve the teeth right out of the head. Take out little triangles from the top half and glue 'em onto the bottom.

I suppose the "Sky" wasn't all that cohesive at the start, either.

I did consider that. It was the only way I could think of to give him top and bottom teeth, but I would for sure destroy the soundwave way before I accomplished that task, lol. I just don't have a clue how I could do that neatly.

Thanks guys! Any other opinions on the new teeth I added? Love? Hate?
I'll be putting him on ebay tonight.
