I don't understand why Hasbro haven't done this repaint. It seems like such an obvious one. Anyway, Scorpy was always one of my favourite Cons. I was gutted when my little brother got G1 Scorpy for Christmas one year, and... I can't remember what I got, but it wasn't as good as Scorpy, haha. So this seems like a perfect custom for me. I decided not to make him a headmaster as I'm lazy, haha.

The base was Energon Scorponok, and it was just a straight repaint. Paints were all Citadel colour acrylic paints. The silver parts were painted with Adeptus Battlegrey and drybrushed with Boltgun Metal and Mithril Silver. The purple parts were Lich Purple, and the green was all Dark Angels Green. I decided not to go overboard on the orange, but wanted to include some bits as it was a reasonably prominent colour on the G1 toy - so I just did a few bits here and there to "accent" it.

As usual, constructive criticism is welcomed!!!

Nice job, love how nice the paint looks! I don't get why Hasbro hasn't done this repaint yet, either. I wish they'd get to it anyway... I'd hate to buy an Energon Scorponok only to have them dish out a G1 repaint of him.

That is an awesome job, Jon. :D  This would have been perfect in the Universe line.

I just use water but wash them very regularly. You might try some thinner of some sort? You can probably get some acrylic thinner in a hobby store.

Exactly, it should do. As I said, I tend to wash my brush every two or three dips into the pot. Keeps 'em OK!

I'd have to agree with you, man. I can't believe with the usages of the Cybertron repaints in the Classics/Universe line that we've not seen this one, both as Scorponok and Black Zarak (though I know we got the "Dark Scorponok", but we all know that ain't the same!). Great work, and thanks for the gallery submission; we're glad to host it! :)

Very nice paint job. Have you had any problems with paint chipping off those ratcheting joints in the "tail"? If so, did you do anything to overcome that (clear coat maybe?)

As for constructive crits, the pics bring out tiny spots you may have missed (always happens when I photograph my customs) and I know maybe those aren't visible to the naked eye, but you could use them as reference to go back and touch-up those little imperfections. I think that'll make your awesome paint job even better.
