i reckon someones painted a test shot, and heres why

a) the blue on the classics prime is actually the colour of the molded plastic, and the blue on this one looks like paint

b) also the bumper is painted silver on all the recent pics of the classics prime the bumper is molded grey plastic

c) it looks shit and i don't think even hasbro would be this stupid

but i may be wrong, its happened before..... a lot

 

Fuck that. One Classics item I won't buy (assuming its the real deal).
I wouldn't even care, except this would put the kibosh on them releasing a real Classics Ultra Magnus (i.e., a new mold).

 

Hasbro's tormenting me now! My wallet's on the virge of extinction.

But I guess that means I'm a sucker for Ultra Magnus-colored repaints.

 

*sigh* I expected this, prepared myself for it, but somehow I'm still dissapointed. I really wanted them to give us a Magnus with armor... or at least remold him a little so that he seems to have armor. Alas, Ultra Magnus has been relegated to being a clone of Optimus Prime... and, to be honest, I blame that crappy DW ongoing... never happened before that.

And, no, as much as a Nemesis Prime/Scourge out of this mold would rock... it wouldn't be appropriate in this line IMHO.

 

Agreed. Theres no way in hell Magnus (sans armor, no less) is more of a Classic, more iconic than Soundwave.

 

What I don't get is, we've seen customizers scratch build excellent trailers that transform into Magnus armour... why can't Hasbro do it?

IF this is alegit figure, which can be questioned, I think...then maybe is DOES have a trailer/armor. Or does nobody else recall that Toys "R" Us has a listing in their computers for a $39.99 Leader Class for Classics? Ahem.

 

It would be nice if they would at least give it a new Ultra Magnus head, but I guess not much chance of that.

 

Yeah, I'd take just about any remolding- a new head at the very least, might sway me.

All the listing means is that there is a $40 assortment of Transformers in the system which are not a part of Cybertron and are not exclusive.

 

man i cant believe how people bitch about repaints!!! news flash your G1 UM cab WAS the same as your G1 OP cab!! I know and agree it would be nice to get armor but such is life. another point look at your G1 characters.. how many were actually repaints ?

I called a "repaint wave" way back when, and figred UM would be amonst them   (oh, betchya dollers to doughnuts 6" Classics Ultra Magnus is a WW Prime repaint too.)

I'd prefer a trailer armour set too, of course, but i gotta say that cab looks nicer than Prime to me. I'm in. thos eblue windows look very nice to me.

I'll mirror Fosterlager's sentiments that Soundwave better not have been bumped for this repaint.

Also, not expected, but I hope there's a head remold in there somewhere.

I think it looks pretty nice actually. Even though an Ultra Magnus repaint has been speculated ever since the first shots of Prime showed up, it's still a little disappointing they (may have) went ahead with it. Looking at it more positively though, I can hope this means an extra wave or two (presumably mostly repaints) will be tacked on the Classics line, and we get at least a Skywarp and Thundercracker out of it.

Anyway: No, I don't have to buy this (if it's real/released), but the "Naked Magnus" thing is getting kinda stale.

I'm sold. Magnus was the closest I ever had to the original G1 Prime, so I owe him a purchase. The presumed lack of armor does suck, though.
