wow, very nice job. this is prolly the best representation of the cartoon version I've seen without taking several liberties witht he mold, not that that is a bad thing. The new additions to the mold are very well done, one would have to look closely at the robot mode to tell that they are not a part of the original. The head is absolutely exquisite, quite possibly my favorite part of this piece. Another high point is how you have also kept in mind the vehicle mode and allowed space for most of the new additions. I don't know why, but I'm a big fan of keeping true to the original mold when kitbashing...I know that defeats the purpose of a kitbash but I think that it is more of a challenge to work within the restraints without breaking them. You have performed such a feat, and spectacularly at that if I may say so. Bravo, Blaster Approves
it's like a wacky mad-max cattle guard on the windshield. wow. Really wow. (I don't mean this to sound offensive, I'm in awe). and the bot mode is sheer perfection. wow.
Thanks again for the compliments guys! I'm pretty proud of this one since I loved the old school G1 toy, yet always wanted to see a more "toon accurate" version. I never thought it was possible until I saw the Classics Magnus mold. The only thing that held me back from doing this MONTHS ago, was the fact that I passed it up the first time I saw it at Target (I figured I'd be back the next day to check 'em out--circumstances proved otherwise and I missed it and Skywarp entirely--still kicking myself over it). So I picked it up from a fellow member here and went all out on him. I'm just honestly happy to see that I apparently did a good job (could have been a GREAT job if I were able to do something more with the whole front end/windshield area), but for a first-timer, I'm glad to see most everyone approves. Thank you all for the support, the compliments, and the constructive criticism. That's what "art" is all about--expressing yourself and finding like minds who can admire it for what it is or give tips on how to possibly improve it a bit (without the need for degrading one's work).
YOU ARE A GOD. You should seriously get a reward. The best Custom I have ever seen. And I'm so glad that you were one of the people who doesn't settle for a white Optimus in place of a Magnus. Once again, AWSOME job!!!!
I wouldn't say that necessarily, but I do appreciate the compliment. I'm just happy to see that others enjoy my work. As for the white Prime deal, I honestly thought it was cool to see it during the Dreamwave G1 comic series, but since then it's been OVERUSED and I just wanted to basically go back to the old school (where us G1 toon fans know Ultra Magnus had no "armor" and wasn't a carbon copy Prime--in robot mode at least). Thanks again for the kind words! Thanks a lot, man! Thanks for the compliment, Ptitvite! (your Devastator has been an inspiration to getting me kick started on this hobby--keep up the great work, my friend!) Thanks, man! (me too) lol
Fixed the images for those unable to see them. I started up a livejournal for my customs and decided to create a new "customs" album on my photobucket for these images. For anyone interested, check out the link in the signature and feel free to comment. Thanks again for the compliments and helpful tips, guys!
Thanks, bro! (on a side note, I'm using the toy from your avatar and signature piece in one of my current projects--hope you dig it when it drops on here in the near future).
