Presented here is my first mediocre attempt at a custom after a LONG collection purge, Classics/Universe/Generations Triggerhappy. I started with a Universe Dirge that I tried to sell on Ebay three times and got no bids, before inspiration struck me as to what I could do with him.

I stripped all the ugly tan paint off (which was a huge PITA). I let the parts soak in alcohol for a week and still couldnt get all the paint off, and had to paint over it. I carefully disassembled the arms and legs to paint the light grey parts. I then removed and flipped the wings to match those on the G1 toy. I count this as a WIP since there are a few more details I could attend to, but Im happy with him as is. I chose not to sculpt a visor for him as I'm sure it would just go flying off eventually anyway. I also need to add some Con signs and maybe a rub symbol. Enough babbling, on to the pics:

My goal was to turn this:

very nice so far, he badly needs two things though, both of which shouldn't be too difficult.. he does need that visor, i'm sure you can easily attach it well, and the massive flip out guns!

Looks very clean and nice, but I think he needs some coloured accents (maybe red or gold?) somewhere. At the moment he's looking a little plain.

I've had the same build in the hopper (and an unmodded Dirge standing in as TH) for a year or so now, but it is GLORIOUS seeing it actually executed, it works much better than I even expect it would!

Need to get yerself one of the DrawnSteel Hero (Ramrider's) Targetmasters to complete the package though ;)

I never noticed before just how well this mold lends itself to Triggerhappy. Whoa! Great idea!

I agree with some of what's been said though... it feels like he's missing a few small, important elements... like the prominent double guns on each side and the visor/red face. I'd be tempted to do this kitbash too... except then I'd feel like I'd have to do Misfire and Slugslinger too. :)

Thanks for the kind words gang.

I may attempt to sculpt a visor for him and superglue it on and hope it stays on. I agree that some additional reds or yellows may work well to add depth to some of the details. I did paint his face red however.

I thought about adding the flip-out guns, but I feel his key-activated swords fulfill that purpose for my needs. I want to maintain playability here since I don't intend to sell. I'd rather keep him durable than add components that may break off later. I also removed the vertical fins that sit behind his head in robot mode, to further separate him from the Cybertron Starscream mold.

If I make any more updates I will post them in this thread. Thanks for the compliments everyone!

    Hasbro should do this!
you should try your hand at shapeways im surprized no one has designed a simple visor yet, plus design his oversized guns to fit in his hands that way tou can keep his swords

Yeah he needs a targetmaster and a targetmaster lol I would advise looking into drawnsteelheros shapeways targemasters (link below) but if not you cant go wrong with pcc minicons.

Triggerhappy had eyes in the cartoon and comic anyway. I would say if anything he needs a mouthplate. (The mold allready has flip out weapons that are a pretty good update IMO.
