Here is my take on a classics Thundercracker. I started with the ever popular Acid Storm base which was cleaned, primed, and then painted to resemble one of the most popular G1 Seekers...

I used primarily Tamiya paints, but a few gamesworkshop paints as well. I'm really happy with how this turned out and it's going to be hard sending this to my client tomorrow! Comments and Critique are encouraged!

    Thanks for looking!

The paint work is very clean, but I'm curious why the stripes on the wings are shaped as they are. I would have liked to see a wash for the details (boy, does this thing have details!), but great color choice on the blue and red. Cockpit looks great as well. Sweet work! :thumb

Very nice paint application, especially on that awesome shade of blue. Great work!

This is probably the best Classics TC I've ever seen.

It looks like Nyarlahotep went more for a Classics [1.0] design scheme very much akin to Starscream and Skywarp.

Great work, man, and I hope we see more from you soon! :thumb

I really feel like this is one of the many pieces that looks the nicest clean (w/o a wash, etc.).

Wow, the wing stripes look very close to the ones I did a few years ago, so I definitely like them! The paint work is super clean, and the colors are fantastic.

I really gotta agree SQ7 here. Why would you want to screw up such a nice glossy, metallic paint job with a wash?

    No wash!

    Such an overused technique too.

It definitely blends better with the classic line without a wash on it....actually I think it looks too nice for classics, you put that next to the rest and you'll need to repaint them all to look as good.

Yeah, no need for a wash on this man......unless you did just a darker blue and did not over do it... I like this guy a lot!!

How did you take care of the rub areas on the mold? Did you sand?

Thanks! I decided to do a variation on some of the other wing designs from the other classic seekers. I also found some reference of one that had already been done by Jarrod (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/207506-classics-thundercracker-ver-1-ver-2-a.html) and I loved it so much I decided to replicate it. Even though the majority of TC is blue I liked the idea of having a nice shimmering red surrounding him and the pointy shapes of the wings gives him a bit more of an intimidating nature. I was also contemplating a wash and to be honest I'm not really that familiar with tamiya paints yet so I decided to leave the blue untouched and then do a light wash on the silver areas instead. I'm definitely going to be experimenting with more of that later. I agree it looks really nice, especially on some of the work that spurtreynolds has done.

    Thanks!

Thank you! It's metallic blue from Tamiya

    Thanks guys :)

Wow, thanks for the high praise

It will be out the door this morning my friend, thanks for your patience!

    Thank you!

Thanks SQ7! This is probably the 7th or 8th one that I've posted on the site, and I have accumulated a massive box of figures and parts ready to be customized...now I need to find the time!

It's not often to hear praise from someones wife, but I'll take it! Thanks! :D

I did a search on google for reference...let me see if I can find it...if it's yours then I definitely owe you some credit!

Bingo! man, why didn't I look on TFW first...duh

    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/207506-classics-thundercracker-ver-1-ver-2-a.html

I was looking at both these the entire time while working on mine. Awesome work man. I didn't notice you had painted the inside of the tail flaps black until I had already done the stripes :D  haha

    Ok, no wash :)

That's the way it is I'm afraid. You paint one and then you have to paint them all. Thanks for the compliment!

Thanks encline, coming from you that means a lot :)
