I know there are a million Classic Thundercrackers on here, but I always said I wanted to do my own. Well, I am finally doing it. It's only my 2nd ever custom. I didn't do that great on masking the stripes on the wings. I may go back and do some touch-ups. The paint doesn't really want to bond with the nose cone, but I am painting it black anyhow. I have to add some silver and some black and maybe a few minor details, then buy some new 'Con logos.

Up next after this, is gonna be a S-L-O-W attempt at the other 2 coneheads.

    Be gentle!!

I am consistently amazed at how good the Krylon Fusion painted classics seekers look. Great job!

Heh, I can see the other seekers making fun of TC. Reminds me of when I found out that my car's color was boysenberry blue.

    Emasculating colors FTL!

    (looks good BTW!)

LOL Yeah! He's a real "seeker among seekers" (man among men)

I wanted to give him a lighter color because I was gonna make Dirge a darker blue.

I've never had any luck painting stripes on my Thundercracker customs. Thats why I always just went with the G1 sticker route. Much easier and I think it looks nice.

I actually just finished a cartoon version of Classics Thundercracker that is close to the color you chose except I used Tamiya French Blue.

you'll find thatthe paint doesn't bond at all. I used black enamel on my TC nosecone and after a week or so it still acted like it waswet so i took it off.

Looking good, I really like the toon colors on TC!!! Tamiya acrylics work on the nose cone, I did mine in flat black. Thundercracker has IMHO made the best TC customs around, so if you're looking for a good tutorial, check it out!!! As for the wings, you could go the G1 reprolabel sticker route or you could by some tamiya paint in the jar and a nice flat brush and add that way. Just a word about masking, when you put the tape down, try running your fingernail along the edges to get a good seal otherwise it will bleed under the tape...

Will a black sharpie work well?? I used a silver sharpie for the chest area and it turned out great.

I almost broke him though. I had one of the shoulder rings turned around wrong and didn't realize it. Couldn't figure out why it wouldn't transform and used a little too much force...oops it didn't break though. Can't tell by looking. My silver is a little messy because the cockpit rubbed it off when transforming. I have a lot of touch ups to do and finish up. More pix to come.

I can't say for sure, but I have used sharpies sparingly in the past with decent results...

Meh...doesn't work very well. I gotta find more paint now.

BTW, this being my 2nd custom, I find myself having fun doing this and I am becoming obsessed with finishing it. I keep looking at other figures to see what I can turn them into!! LOL

Lol, consider thyself bitten by the custom bug...It started out for me as a way to get the seekers and now it's turned into a full on hobby.

    Here's an update....

Thundercracker is pretty much done...I need to add some minor detail work to him and after a little accident with the spray can, I need to repaint one of the tailfins....oops! I'm also considering buying some faction stickers for these guys.

    Anyhow, here he is:
