FINALLY! My first kitbash! Not just a repaint. I was playing with my Universe Dropshot and mis-transformed him and it gave me an idea. SOUNDWAVE!!! I stripped the weapons, tank treads, and other plastic bits to make Soundwave! I filed the head down to give it a more square shape. I couldn't figure out a way to give him a faceplate since I don't have the right tools right now so he actually has a mouth. I found a picture that some did of Soundwave without a mouth (http://ebelar.deviantart.com/art/Mask-secret-112953650), so I figured I'll go with that. I did add a little piece of plastic on the forehead to give him that Soundwave look. I used a guitar pick!

By mis-transforming Dropshot, I was able to get that cassette player mode. The chest does not open but he looks like some Cybertronian computer or communications device. Also, I was able to transform him into his Cybertronian lamp post mode! Woo hoo!

So here he is, Classics Soundwave with 2 modes.

Wow, that is a great take on him. Bravo!!! It's like a military version of a sound device. Like those Tuff computers that are waterproof, shockproof, etc.

Awesome! Really dig the "lamp post" pose from the G1 cartoon pilot! Nice props there.

Thanks guys! I also used the guns from movie scout Arcee. I added a pic with my custom Laserbeak from the movie real gear figure.

Hmmm, I wonder how difficult it would be to add a tape door to accomodate Universe Ravage..... *runs out to find a Dropshot....tomorrow*

Awesome custom! First one I've seen to incorporate the lamppost.

Man, I definitely want to see someone do it better. I originally wanted to swap heads with the TRU Jetfire repaint (I can't remember his name) because he has a kind of Soundwave look. But I don't know how to make those kinds of mods.

I think that there would be room to add a tape door.

Not too keen on the micro-cassette recorder mode you've got him in. The lack of a tape door, functional or not, is kind of killing it for me.

That Cybertronian lamp post mode is aces though.

I think you've already done a sweet job on this! I wouldn't have expected it, but somehow the improvised "tape deck" mode really works as some sort of updated high-tech alt-mode. The painting really brings out the detail.

A tape door/hatch would be an awesome addition... since he no longer requires his tank mode, you wouldn't have to worry about it interfering with the transformation. Also, I might be tempted to cut off the "teeth" on his feet (from the plow on the front of the tank). They seem a little out of place.

I agree about the Cybertron Jetfire head making a good Soundwave head (the recent repaint version especially), though the boxier Cybertron Soundwave head might fit the proportions of this mold better.

Don't be intimidated by something like a head-swap... you can do it! It's easier if you have a drill tool or something to make holes where you need 'em to attach a new neck post or whatever. Go for it! This guy needs a new head. :)

EDIT: Looking at the mods you already made to the head, you might even want to just glue a mouth plate over the existing mouth, perhaps made from some spare sheet plastic or something. With the visor, the mouth-plate would complete the Soundwave look.

Nicely done, fits well with Classics Megs and Starscream. The head works very well as Soundwave too; if only the mouthplate were there! Next time tho, eh? ;)  Extra props for the lamppost mode, one of the finest Cybertronian alt modes the cartoon gave us, lol

The more I look at this custom the more I wanna give it a try. Evn without having a door it nails the posture of Soundwave.

Like I said, if anyone can do it better, go right ahead. I would love to see what others do. That was the best I could with my first kitbash. I don't have the proper tools to add a tapedoor. I used a what I had which was a kitchen knife, scissors, a nail file, a guitar pick, and crazy glue. I though about the feet but just left them alone. Couldn't think of a way to make them less Dropshot. I think I can add a face plate as I get better at this and might add on later but for now just look at his evil smile :)

I was kind of going for a Cybertonian Soundwave since he has no tape door. I was glad to figure out that Dropshop could be transformed like Soundwave and as a lamp post.

I found if I point the shoulders back instead of level straight it kind of gives that Soundwave posture.
