I need a shockwave for my season 1-2 decepticon shelf. I have been considering for some time to just buy the HQ ko g1. Since the figure is already so toon accurate, But I am worried he may be too tall. Is g1 shockwave taller than united megatron? or who do you guys use? looking for some ideas. Thanks.

He's definitely taller than Classics Megatron. I think he's as tall as an MP seeker.

Anyway, Energon Shockblast is a very common stand-in for Shockwave. I've even seen people use the Animated version.

G1 Shockwave is bigger than like, every classic isn't it? I remember it being pretty damned big.

I think you're right. I remember him being a pretty big boy.

Yeah, G1 Shockwave is much larger than a voyager. About the size of an MP is a pretty good guess.

Animated Shockwave is a better stand-in than that wretched Shockblast.
Actually, DotM Shockwave is pretty darn good as well. Not G1 accurate, if that's what you're after, though.

That is pretty big :lol  Guess I'll need to rethink that. Maybe Ill still get him for my mp shelf. Going to look into energon shockblast, since Im not really familiar with the mold or his going rate.

    From another thread:

Definitely not as big as MP Megatron, but more in line with the MP seeker mold and that KO oversized Soundwave, give or take.

I'd recommend springing for the G1 toy if you're not a scale anus. He's one of the few G1 figures that displays well with modern Transformers...without looking overly dated and awkwardly out of place. Jetfire, the Dinobots, Scorponok, Omega Supreme, Sixshot, Soundwave, and the Insecticons are some of the others.

    Ebay:
    "Laserbeak returns megatron"
"Welcome Laserbeak! Unlike some of my other warriors, you never fail me"

First thing that Popped into my head when I saw that pic. Awesome display. He's so bought now for my mp shelf. Now to find one for my classics shelf.

I actually wouldn't mind if for a Shockwave release they just reissued Shockblast with a new deco. I usually hate Unicron trilogy molds repainted and slapped into Classics (I'm looking at you, Universe 2.0) but in this case I would like it.

I've got an Energon Shockblast rocking the Arm of a Alternators Shockwave. Makes for a VERY nice stand in.... should hire someone from Radicons to paint him one of these days.

I have both of these, and love them, but their heads are all kinds of wrong. :(

Got mine for 35 CAD at TFCon.

He seems to be super popular for customs, and those customs always look rad. I'm just too lazy/busy to do it myself.

I use animated shockwave because he is taller than the DOTM version. He fits in well with my classics. I like him in with my classics because I can display him directly behind henkei megatron and all of shockwave's head is still visible.

I think I remember an old rumour (and maybe even some listings? can't remember, it was a couple years ago I think) about an Energon Shockblast reissue but it never materialized.

    So did I:

I honestly hate the Shockblast mold. I had it for ages, and just really started desipising it as time went on. The feet are horrible, the chest looks weird and the head looks like a security camera. I won't even mention the arms or wonky colors.
I tried to like it and was working on my own custom of it since I'm such a Shockwave fan boy, but I just couldn't do it and ended up scrapping the project (it's head is in my Shockwave shrine being held by Animated Shockwave).
All respect to TJ and others that have customized it, but I just can't find one yet that doesn't make me remember my dislike for the mold.
