    Classics Shockwave - G1 homage

I have to say I was inspired by the work done by frenzy_rumble, Solrac333, Jin. So I went out and got myself a Dremel set (36 pc) and started to work on this not so simple custom piece. I do how ever want to keep it as close to the G1 look and feel. I'm not sure I'll be able to have an alternate mode when I'm done.

So this is going to be 2 custom shockwaves. I'm going to do a homage to the G1 version and the other more of a classics look. Now I still need to figure out the alt modes for both, if not it's just going to be another Revoltech figure!

G1 Shockwave Homage - The base figure will be the Energon Shockblast. Most of his body will remain the same except for his forearms and sides of his legs (G1 parts). I am thinking of switching out the head to the G1 version. I'll need to mod it to be more streamline so it fits the body. As for the paint job, it's going to be painted white with purple as a accent color. Well still deciding on the color :D

Classics Shockwave - The base figure will be the Energon Shockblast. Most of his body will remain the same except for his forearms (KO Jetfire parts), cannon (Universe Tankor). The shoulders will be switched out from the other E Shockblast so both arms will look the same. This is going to be painted with a few shades of purple, black and grey.

Anyways will update you as I progress along… let me know what you think and if you have any hints please feel free to pass it along.

    WIP PIC's are COMING!

Most of the parts have been primed. The cannon has been modded by adding a small plastic cap and a G1 OP missile drilled into the stock.

Intriguing. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how these guys work out.

I'm curious about this Classics Shockwave. Is there particular reasoning behind the mostly-white pallette you're planning, or is it just a case of liking the idea (the only real reason you need ;) )?

Thanks Metal Chaos... I too myself wanna see more of it. lol

Thanks Ramrider! I was wondering when someone was going to ask me that. You see... I thought Shockwave was a bad ass that could take on anyone (even Megatron). What if he was a Autobot? That's when I thought to myself lets paint him white with purple accents or even red. Now I'm still toying with this paint idea and will decide in the next few days what route I take it.

    Thanks Dude!

    small update:

Now I'm not sure I'm really liking the white version of shockwave but I'll stick with it for now and see what happens.

    - replaced the cord with one from a microphone (dollarstore)
    - switched out the shoulder joints with the other shockwave
    - switched out the forearms for a G1 version.

    - these are the feet for the Classics version, won't be that much mods to it other then a repaint.

oops... forgot to paint his toenails!

Wait... so how much modding actually needs to be done in order to attach G1 Shockwave's forearms to Shockblast's shoulders?? It looks like a perfect fit, at least for that one arm (damn asymmetrical shoulders!).

    Another Update:

So finally got 90% of the SHOCK Cannon done for the classic version. Now fun thing is I have 2 sets of forearms for this bot. Guess I'll need to go and find another E Shockwave to add it too... lol

    Wip pics..
This is the first version of the cannon as of 10:00 am this morning.

    Here's the updated version.

    Parts:
    - Universe Treadbolt
    - Universe Tankor
    - G1 Snarl (inner gold head)
    - Microphone cord (dollarstore)

Thanks seali_me... funny you should say sexy! I beginning to wonder this bot may end being a female Shockwave.

Thanks Crow! For sure dude, give it a try. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks Kenjo! Yeah a Female Autobot vibe.

Thanks Smog! Yeah the parts all fit fine but the inner shoulder needs a thin washer. As for the forearm joints, the springs can't be added so I'll try putting a gasket ring in the to tighten it up.

it looks awesome, dude. i can't wait to see the final product.

i really like the pics you took of the pieces primed. maybe people will finally believe me when i say that the shockwave mold was birthed from the takatoku vf-1j (jetfire mold).

if you look at the circled parts in red, you'd think those were jetfire's biceps and calves. if you've ever customized a jetfire you know what i'm talking about. plus, just look at shockwave's head. it says, "hello! i am the brother of the macross vf-1j!"

sorry, didn't mean to go off course. seems that no one will believe on this, lol.

but tangent aside, your proj is looking marvelous.

    cheers,

    KO

You my friend have a very sharp eye! YES you are correct about the pieces of Jetfire(VF 1S) and Shockwave being the same. For the longest time I couldn't figure out who to mod my Energon Shockwave till I did a custom Jetfire. Only then was I able to see the common parts in the 2 toys.
Even the thigh piece looks so close to the Jetfire legs. Hmmm maybe I might try and use a Jetfire leg and see how it looks.

    Update:

So today I worked on attaching the G1 Leg panel to the Energon legs. Had to trim away the tank treads, glue the panels on and fill most of the area around it with styrene. Then came the pain in the @$$ of filling every gap with bits of styrene, hot glue and tamiya putty. I'll add pic's later once the putty drys.

Also the gun has been painted black and will have a dry brush silver done over it.

*note to self... do all putty work outside next time. Boy do I have a major headache now from the fumes.
