I'm in the process of taking apart and combining pieces from 2 different classics seekers (to save on repainting time) and am wondering if anyone has any experience in removing the rivets in the heel/thrusters and/or taking out the tiny pins in the elbows. Regarding the elbow pins, hammering hasn't worked for me--the pin won't budge in the elbow hinge. I want to try heating the pin but want to know if anyone has had success with this or if there are any issues I should be aware of before I try. As for the heel rivets, I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge with a newb!
http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/tutorials-how-tos/214537-how-remove-pins-rivets.html No need to heat the elbow pins, they will come out. You might just really have to hit the hell out of them.
Thanks Nemesis Predaking for the link. I read that tutorial previously. I was just curious if anyone has tried this and had success. Especially with the heel rivets. (I'm probably being overly cautious).
Personally, I've never taken the heel rivets out. I've never had luck with the heating method. I just take the thruster off & paint it all as one piece.
