Hey all. Was bored recently and came up with an idea for a Classics Roadbuster kitbash. The base figure is a Energon Cliffjumper. It wouldn't take too much painting to do. The only major mod is the head. If I do eventually do this bash, I might make it my first attempt at making my own custom head (might try this for my Last Autobot kitbash first though). I used the G1 head for a stand-in for the Digibash. I personally think it works for the character. Thanks for looking.

Hmm, interesting. Certainly not an homage I'd have thought of (Roadbuster just doesn't scream 'dune buggy' to me), but I can see it kind of working without too much of a stretch; while it's not as beefy as I'd pick, I suppose it's pretty rugged, which fits him.
I think he'd need more guns, though. Roadbuster needs to be tooled up. ;)

I think it's a great idea, very clever. The Cliffjumper mold actually seems plenty bulky and armored (to me) to pass as Roadbuster. But as folks have suggested, some extra weaponry would be cool.

I third Ramrider's comments. That could work very well, and never considered that mold.

    Heyyyyyy!

Nice! I've actually been meaning to do this too!

It always bugged me that Energon Cliffjumper was so HUGE, especially considering his vehicle mode... but I always saw the potential in that mode as some sort of futuristic off-road armoured vehicle.

Which is of course, exactly what Roadbuster is! The Cliffjumper colours are even sort of close to Roadbuster's G1 palette.

I think it would benefit from adding some extra bulk to the vehicle mode, maybe a more prominent gun. Also, some armour-plate over the windows with small view slits might be a good way to imply a larger-scale vehicle.

Good call. I'm with you all the way on this one. I may even get around to doing it eventually. :)

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm not sure about King, but I do agree that I have gotten good at doing them. I have some extra weaponrey sitting around that I could add to him if I were to do this kitbash. He is one character I don't see Hasbro updating, so that there might push me to do this one. Hopefully if I do decide to do it, I'll be able to find an Energon Cliffjumper for a decent price. I've recently bought a Titanium RID Optimus Prime from a fellow board memver, and will possibly be buying a RID Optimus Prime from another board member, so buying a Cliffjumper will have to wait a while (the rest of my free money that I currently have will be going towards kitbashing supplies). Again, thanks for the comments.

can somebody PLEASE digibash roadbuster from cybertron defense red alert? I'd swear that mold would work for him, especially with that big-ass cannon over his right shoulder.

The vehicle mode is dead on for Sandstorm... but for my part, I just can't see Sandstorm as a hulking TF, or having a dune buggy bigger than Prime. Roadbuster on the other hand, always seemed like one of those "big guys" to me.

I thought the same thing... even the head sort of recalls Roadbuster.

Who knows why I'm so into the idea of bashing a Roadbuster... he didn't get much attention in the TF Canon. :)

Yeah... Much as I love most of Freestyle's stuff, I'm not sure that's one of his best - it's a nice idea, but the chopper mode seems really forced, especially with nowhere to put the blades in either of his other modes (the way they're folded on the gun... not exactly subtle). Actually, I always thought of Cliffjumper as Sandstorm anyway, mods or no mods.

Indeed so, that's them sticking out of the front of his vehicle mode. But with only two guns, Roadbuster would feel naked. ;)

Looks great! Needs a heck of a lot more guns, though, haha. Roadbuster's gotta be cocked, locked, and ready to rock!

Were I to do this, I'd go whole hog and "Mad Max" the vehicle mode out - a big brushguard on the front end, "mesh" cage material around the driver's compartment, a honkin' giant engine (that turns into a gun?) and the whole thing just bristling with guns and spikes and pointy stuff. Ditch the spring loaded guns that are on the base toy and mount some kind of mini-gun type weapon (or a huge blower/supercharger) etc.

-hx, always wanted to make a Roadbuster out of BM Tankor, personally...

can someone vaguely attempt to explain how the helicopter mode was formed? I don't have that mold, and would like to know if it's just from changing the transformation, or if there's parts there from other robots.
