Energon Shockblast and Cybertron Soundwave. Energon Landmine kinda hangs around with them, but I don't really try to shoehorn him in as a replacement for another character or anything.
Cybertron Metroplex - Metroplex TF '07 Armorhide - Huffer Animated Arcee - Arcee RiD Wedge - Scoop Spyshot 6 - Reflector RotF Mindwipe - Mindwipe RotF Bludgeon - Bludgeon RotF Lockdown - Lockdown Armada Demolishor - Demolishor Titanium Soundwave - Soundave Titanium Laserbeak - Laserbeak Cybertron Downshift - Wheeljack Animated Waspinator - Waspinator
I don't. I am a fussy so and so and therefore refuse to use any other figures than those specifically intended as part of the Classics/Universe/Henkei/Generations lines. The only grey area for me is the fact that all Classics-style figures will from now on be released as part of the Generations line which makes inclusion ambiguous. Take voyager Seaspray for example. I know he is officially part of the Hunt for the Decepticons line (as Generations is deluxe-only, for the time being at least) but he has very strong Classics aesthetics, without actually being a straight up modernisation of the G1 character/figure. So really it's up to the individual as to whether he goes in with the Classics line up or not. Likewise WFC. They are not 'G1' characters for me so they won't be going in. I know some who have used Animated Arcee or G1 Kup as stand-ins for those characters, but the look of those figures is just too different IMO to fit in with my Classics. The new Valkyrie from Impossible Toys however, should be a perfect fit. I'm not saying whatever other people do is wrong, this is just the way I choose to follow these lines.
I have: - Energon Towline as Skids - Galaxy Force Guardshell as Scoop - Music Label Soundwave as himself - Music Label Soundblaster as himself - Cybertron Armorhide as Pipes - ROTF Sparkcrusher as Gutcruncher - ROTF Bludgeon as himself - ROTF Mindwipe as himself - Energon Ghost Starscream as Nemesis Starscream (just to give SDCC Nemesis Prime a 'right-hand man') Probably will get PCC Huffer as my C.H.U.G. Huffer, along with Seaspray and Device Label Blaster to fill in the collection.
For the Autobots: Overdrive = OTFCC Sideswipe Smokescreen = Cybertron Smokescreen Wheeljack = Energon Downshift Breakaway = Movie Wal-mart exclusive Getaway Jazz = Movie Target exclusive G1 repaint Jazz Metroplex = Cybertron Metroplex Scoop = Cybertron Landmine Grapple (though I guess Erector would be more appropriate) = TRU exclusive movie Mudflap Grimlock = Animated Grimlock Slag = Animated Snarl Swoop = Energon Swoop Countdown = Armada Jetfire Springer = Botcon Springer Brawn = Rotf Brawn Arcee = 07 Movie scout Arcee Hubcap = Activators Animated Bumblebee For the Decepticons: Quake = Universe Galvatron Brawl = 07 movie Leader Brawl Breakdown = Rotf scout Breakdown Deadend = Rotf scout Deadend/Detour (mine was actually packaged as Deadend) Mixmaster = Roft Mixmaster Longhaul = Rotf Longhaul Soundwave w/ Laserbeak = Cybertron Soundwave w/ Laserbeak Thundercracker = Cybertron Thundercracker Dirge = Rotf Dirge Thrust = Rotf Thrust Scorponok = Energon Scorponok Shockwave = Energon Shockwave Bludgeon = Rotf Bludgeon Swindle = Animated Swindle There's also a ton of other bots in my collection that I've re-dubbed with G1 names, but don't actually resemble their namesakes. But function and character wise they'd fit pretty well.
Cybertron Big Daddy and Chevy Swerve as their G1 counterparts Movie Breakaway, Crankcase, and Fracture as G1 Getaway, Crankcase, and GoBots Crasher ROTF Bludgeon and Deadlift as G1 Bludgeon and GoBots Spoons 2010 Seaspray will be obviously repurposed, as will most of the PCCs. Energon Galvatron as G1 Galvatron, with Universe Cyclonus and Botcon Scourge beside him, and all under Armada Unicron Generally speaking, if a Botcon toy makes sense with the Classics, than I let it sit on the shelf. For instance, the entirety of the 09 set, despite not being very popular, makes sense for what they are. Music Label Soundwave and Animated Laserbeak, obvious I have a fan-faction I call the Destructicons. It's comprised of various bots from various series, and I include them in my Classicsverse. CR Black Convoy as Nemesis Prime Universe Onslaught and Botcon Skyquake as themselves (Clench will be joining them) BW2 Starscream and BB, taking the names of their Robotmasters counterparts (Smokesniper and Gigant Bomb) ROTF Lockdown, Ransack, and Trenchmouth as, essentially, G1 versions of themselves RiD Axer as G2 Road Pig (I would use him as G1 Axer, but I'm debating on using 2010 Axer for that. His color scheme will presumably be more appropriate. Plus, RiD Axer's bio states that he resents Scourge, which is the opposite of how I use this guy) Armada Demolishor, Cybertron Thunderblast and Ransack as themselves (Ransack called Gasket because of the ROTF guy, Thunderblast called Waveblaster because.. she's a boat, not a jet) 2010 Brimstone and PCC Bombshock will be joining this group when I get them Botcon Razorclaw, despite being intended for the Beast Machines/post-BW series, works just fine as Classics Razorclaw. I have him, Cybertron Dark Scorponok (as Zarak) and Scourge (called Beast Prime) as a beast-themed Decepticon unit Wal-mart Dinobots as Classics Grimlock's squad. In my little faniverse, I've borrowed TF:Cybertron's concept of multiple planets being involved with the war. Basically, Animatros/Beast Planet is where most of my beast themed Transformers go in my world, including Optimus Primal and Big Convoy (leading the effort against the above mentioned Razorclaw team) Energon Shockblast as G1 Shockwave, until we get something better. Most of the Decepticons from Universe I being used for my Unicronians, with ROTF Burning The Fallen leading them. Movie 1 Jolt used as a generic Decepticon soldier. ROTF Slap Dash as a twisted version of G1 Wheelie That's about it, I guess.
mindwipe bludgeon energon downshift movie crankcase big daddy movie storm surge as seaspray titaniums as themselves aveo swerve music label soundwave frenzy and rumble real gears booster as laserbeak other realgears customized into squawktalk, beastbox, reflector, gobot pathfinder EDIT: superion and bruticus want: movie 1 breakaway as getaway fracture grindcore
Kinda forgot about RotF Superion and Bruticus. With the Fansproject add-ons, at least. They don't look quite right, stock. I actually don't mind Classics Devastator as he is, though. Probably because he's not really a great analog to the original, so he kinda stands as a separate entity.
I myself include legends as a viable character stand in. So my classics Jazz, unless/until Hasbro makes a deluxe one, is the universe legends figure. But here's a list -Cybertron Excellion =Overdrive -Cybertron Downshift =Downshift -Energon "energon" Hot Shot =Camshaft (although I hope someday to get a regular energon Hot Shot and swap yellow and grey parts on them) -All the movie 1 Wal-Mart deluxes save Big Daddy (I though he was dumb) -Breakaway=Getaway -Divebomb=Hooligan -Fracture=Crasher -Crankcase=Crankcase -Jolt=Jolt -movie Wire Tap V20=Reflector Spetro -movie Zoom Out 25X=Reflector Spyglass -movie Photon T-34=Reflector Viewfinder -Henkei Dark Skyfire=Whisper -ROTF Superion=Superion -ROTF Bruticus=Bruticus -ROTF Sparkcrusher=Gutcrusher -ROTF Bludgeon=Bludgeon (with legends Megatron as the inner robot)
I like the explainatons some of you have for any non-G1 characters in your classics lineups. I'll add mine.... Lockdown: Similar to his Animated counterpart, he's a bounty hunter. He allied with the Decepticons as a hunter and soldier for hire mainly because Megatron pays better then the Autobots and his jobs are more to Lockdown's liking. Demolishor: One of the Decepticon's ground combat experts. (Ever since he was shown as a pre-order character for WfC I wanted to work him in somehow.) Waspinator: Again, animated influenced. A once top Decepticon spy who was captured by Bumblebee and thrown in prison for a few hundred years. During a prisoner transfer the ship crashed and he was the only survivor though still barely functioning. He was found by Shockwave, was experimented on and was turned into the first Transorganic cybertronian.
Here's my list: Classics Erector - slightly modified Movie 1 Mudflap (custom paint details, plus two new Autobot symbols: a standard one on the waist area and a rubsign over where the 'Con symbol was) Classics Aerialbots/Superion -ROTF Aerialbots/Superion (incuding Silverbolt, since I lack the Ultra figure) Classics Hot Spot - Universe 6" Tit. Hot Zone (repainted RID Optimus) Classics Hooligan - ROTF Fearswoop (he may not look anything like G2 Hooligan, but it's the closest we've gotten) Classics Bludgeon - ROTF Bludgeon (made from plastic, metal pins, paint, and pure awesome.) Classics Mindwipe - ROTF Mindwipe (more of a stretch here, since his alt. mode isn't exactly a bat anymore [although a fan mode has been discovered where with minimal modification he can turn into a bat], but it's close enough for me)
Generally, if it's a CHUG toy, it goes on my CHUG shelves... There are a few exception of figures (mostly repaints) that were intended for CHUG but because the retailer wanted movie packaging, that's what they ended up in... Big Daddy, Fracture, BreakGetaway, Crankcase, Jolt, GrindcoreCrashBull, DivebombHooligan, Bludgeon, Mindwipe, and Lockdown.
I have a few. ROTF Bludgeon as himself, Animated Arcee, Music label Soundwave, ROTF Superion and soon to be Bruticus. I really don't like to repurpose too much though.
-Cybertron Buzzsaw - Pre-Earth Buzzsaw -Cybertron Blurr - Blurr -Cybertron Runamuck - Runabout -Cybertron Longrack - Pre-Earth Longrack -Energon Cruellock - Rippersnapper (Well, both characters ARE Terrorcons, so I figured, what the hell) -Energon Divebomb - Divebomb in a new color scheme. -Cybertron Landmine - Landmine with a new vehicle mode after his Pretender shell was destroyed. -Cybertron Armorhide - Pipes -Cybertron Swerve - Windcharger -Movie Arcee - Arcee -ROTF Lockdown - Lockdown -Movie Blackout - Blackout -Energon Starscream - Nightscream. A failed clone of Starscream who believes he is the real Starscream, and is out to kill the original. -Cybertron Legends Sunstorm - Sunstorm -ROTF Jolt - Jolt. A Generation 2 laser rod Decepticon who learned the error of his ways and switched sides to the Autobots. -Universe Legends Jazz - Jazz (Until we get a Generations Jazz...if it ever happens) -Classics 2-Pack Megatron - Megaplex
the following can all be found mixed among my "Classics" display: MP3 Soundwave as Soundwave Cybertron Downshift as Wheeljack's brother Frank Cybertron Armorhide as Huffer's brother Edmond Titanium Rodimus as Rodimus Titanium Scourge as Scourge Titanium Fallen as Fallen Titanium Thundercracker as Thundercracker Animated Blurr as Blurr VF-17 from Macross 7 as Henry James Winstead III Lupin III Microman as Omega Supreme (he's in disguise)
Movie 1 Big Daddy ROTF Scout Brakedown ROTF Bludgeon And I had ROTF Bruticus and a KO Yellow Devastator in there, but now they're off on their own due to space.
Lets see. Energon Downshift (or rather, Superlink Wheeljack) as Wheeljack Movie Target Exclusive Jazz as Jazz Energon Scorponok as Scorponok ROTF Bludgeon and Mindwipe as themselves. HFTD Seaspray as well. I've even added ROTF Lockdown to the group. Movie Breakaway, Crankcase, and Fracture as G1 Getaway, Crankcase, and GoBots Crasher MusicLabel Soundwave as himself MusicLabel Frenzy and Rumble as themselves RealGear Booster X10 as Laserbeak Botcon Razorclaw as himself Titanium Scourge as himself Titanium Hot Zone as Hot Spot '07 Movie Arcee as Chromia ROTF Scout Brakedown and ROTF Deluxe Dead End as Breakdown and Dead End And I've also got a bunch of customs in my lineup as well. That's the most I can think up of for the time being. Hmm, do you think I should repurpose my G2 Ramjet as Slipstream?
