Finally completed. I am quite busy, but wanted to get this up tonight.

Basically we're all disappointed with hasbro's Universe Powerglide color scheme ...so I did what I do and now it's done.

He was dyed in burgundy RIT then painted with many shades of red. The metallics on the arms and legs are about 5 different metallic shades...including my new favorite enamel color called "jet exhaust" which is silver with a touch of gold in it. Drybrushed on that with chrome silver, and the metallic parts...look metal ;)  I am quite happy with the result.

I grabbed some G1 canons from my boxes of parts and painted them to match his color scheme. I also painted the eyes light blue (instead of red...wth)

Astoria was made from a polly pocket which I jacked from my daughter. I painted the eyes and face over to match the character better. Painted her dress a pale yellow and added the flowers on her waist. I also sculpted the frill on the bottom of the dress and made some little bracelets. I had too much fun painting her. I even had to cut her hair :sly2:

Anyway, it wasn't Powerglide without her.

Using water-slide decals: I added those "kill credit" markings near the cockpit, they are about 1/8 an inch tall and are Decepticon symbols. I used dry-transfer letters for the heart's lettering "ASTORIA" these letters were 1/16" tall, and a major pain in the ass to get in there and applied. I was really happy with the white pin stripes going down the wings.

Took the pics a little differently this time, used black velvet as the backdrop and a light tent - instead of my typical setup...so PLEASE let me know how you like the results!

If PG looked that good from Hasbro, I would not be passing on this mold.
    Stellar job F_R.

Almost forgot to mention the background! As for the black background, I think it would work better on lighter colored figures, I actually prefer your more neutral light tent. Like on your Punch-Counterpunch shoot, for example. Nonetheless, 'ol Powerglide and Astoria look great. The dark background does not hinder, although it may not complement as well as it should.:thumbs2: :2c:

    thanks guys.

and yes - he was dyed with all electronics inside him (minus the batteries) and works fine now.

Looking over my old mcfarlane shoot stuff, I think I will get more creative with background next shoot (which should be tomorrow with another project which is done)

Very cool F_R. I have to agree with NP...if Powerglide looked like this fresh out the box, I would more than consider buying him myself.

You made a drastic improvement to him....this is how Hasbro should have released him :thumb

    Top notch work man.

This looks to good. Why no panel lining? Did you hand pinstripe or use stripe tape?

there is a lot of panel lining, just not in black. The base coat of dark red is in there. For some reason, you can see it in real life, but not so well with my pics. I think tomorrow I will take a pic of him in natural sunlight.

Awesome FR. Perhaps I'm biased because I love the Mcfarlane figures, but as I mentioned before, you are the best painter I've seen.
