not so much Classics vs Animated, but a similar question:

If given the choice, would you rather have a classics of a character or an animated? like specific characters, not the line it self.

EXAMPLE: i know id probably prefer an Animated Prime to a Classics one, but would much rather have a Classics Ironhide compared to an Animated one ((remember, just an example-i love all Animated!))

I would prefer a Classics Trailbreaker (or equivelant character like Tankor/Octane) than an Animated one if they do him. Simply because I would like a more realistic alt mode for him.

however, I would have liked an Animated Bluestreak. He could've been like a crazy, uber-fun relative of friend of Prowl who was always jokes and nonsense like his G1 self.

lol, a Bluestreak to mess with Prowl would RULE!!! esp. if Bluestreak was ahead of him in the ninja ranks.

i think the only one that id have trouble deciding between would be a Classics vs Animated Blitzwing, as i love the animated character, but i also remember that Blitzwing looked EPIC as a toy from G1 and a classics of him would be too good to be true

A Classics Jazz or a Classics Blitzwing would be nice.

In this case, Classics wins everytime. All I want is new Classics, and I'd much rather see, say, a Bludgeon surface in Classics than in Animated.

I wouldn't want a Classics Blitzwing, simply because the last two Classics/Universe triple changers have been less than amazing, and Hasbro always insists on making them Deluxes.

I would want a Classics Jazz. But not instead of the Animated version, just another Jazz, because you can never have too much Jazz.:D

QFT!!!!!!!! hey.....as long as there are more jazzes, there are more chances for ricochet repaints :p

hell i love both lines, i don't care who is in which line, i just want both lines to continue

Classics Jazz FTW also, despite my original post, i would much rather have Animated Ironhide, esp. if he

    a) turns into something cybertronian and not a ratchet retool
    2) has his Iron-Hide ability somehow

Maybe Hasbro can make his plastics like they do with other toys where you run it under hot water and it changes colour.

the problem with deciding between these two, is taht you can't really decide until you've seen both. Like take for instance, Grimlock. He's way cooler in Animated and way more G1 than his classics version, but you never know.

Personally, I'd rather have a Classics version of Jazz than the Animated version. Basically make a Deluxe version of their Legends Jazz design with all the articulation and paint apps of the average Deluxe. They could even put it into the 25th Ann. line with the others.

that or maybe like a rubsign-rub his red chest, it turns silver

well, ive seen Ironhide's Classics toy, and i figure Animated Ironhide would be the same as everyone else-incredibly show accurate. ANIMATED WINS in my book.

though i gotta say, i dont understand your analogy with the Grimlocks

Yeah, I suck at explaining it. But basically what I'm saying is, you can't can't tell which one will be better until they do it.

    Classics.

For instance, I bought the Animated Grimlock, but I would love to have that version of Grimlock in the Classics line, especially at the Voyager size.

    Same thing with Swoop.

I'd rather see a gestalt done in Animated than in Classics. Really interested to see it pulled off, and depending on who it is (Animated Abominus anyone?) could look amazingly awesome.

I'm going to have to go with Animated.

This latest round of Classics has been extremely disappointing to me. Plus, I think designers really limit themselves with the Classics and their realistic altmodes, and it's not really even the altmodes as much as it's the devotion to realistic paint jobs (see Powerglide).

I think that Animated just has a better chance of capturing the essence of character better that Classics.
