I personally doubt that these were intended minicon ports, like how you can put ones on G1 Magnus, RID Prime, etc. , but who knows, either way, you're right that it's a nice addition. So, is he worth it? I passed him up to get the Prime.
It's tough that first time because it's not real clear where everything is supposed to line up. The arm and leg on the back half of the toy really have to be aligned just exactly right before you go to put the "shell" back together. And yes, the shell is the LAST thing you want to pop into place, or else you'll never get the arm and leg in the right spot.
tell me abouit it, i still occasionally have trouble aligninh the right arm underneath the clips of the wings sometimes. lol good review

Yeah, the minicon ports aren't mentioned, but the fact that there 4 places on him to put minicons on him makes me think its more than a coincidence. and yes, thats Will Ferrell. I made up that sig using avatars from members of the powet.tv forums.
